Father-Daughter candidate duo appears for NEET together in Telangana
Khammam: In an inspiring story, the journey of a father and daughter duo of giving National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2023 exam together, has left people in awe. A 49-year-old man appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2023 at an exam centre in Khammam while his 17-year-old daughter took the NEET-UG exam at another centre in the town on Sunday.
A father who shares the same dream of studying medicine as his daughter has motivated the younger generation and those who want to pursue their dreams regardless of their age.
Setting an inspiring example of not just love and determination, but also showing the world that age is no barrier to learning, this father and daughter duo decided to sit for the medical entrance exam together but at different exam centres.
The duo appeared for NEET that was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS/Ayush courses on Sunday at separate centres in Khammam.
The 49 year-old father, Mr Satheesh Babu, the director of a competitive exams coaching centre, in the city, an engineering and MBA graduate, turned up for the exam brimming with confidence to realise his ambition of studying MBBS course. He was one among 1,660 candidates who took the NEET-UG exam at the designated centre in Harvest Public School in Khammam on Sunday.
As per a media report in Telangana Today, his lifelong dream to enter into the medical field finally came true after the National Medical Commission (NMC) lifted the age limit for NEET eligibility last year.
Even though he had a degree in engineering, he always wanted to pursue MBBS. With his two daughter having a desire to get a medical degree, his dream gained much support from his daughters who were proud of him. His elder daughter R Sathvika is pursuing BDS in Mamata Medical College in Khammam.
As he did MPC course in intermediate, he obtained special permission from Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education to appear for zoology and botany subjects as biology is necessary for taking NEET exam.
He was expecting the results of the intermediate first-year and second-year zoology and botany exams he had taken this year. In an interview with Telangana Today, Satheesh Babu said, "I am 100 per cent sure of passing the exams," and he also expressed confidence in completing the NEET.
He promised to engage in long-term tutoring if he didn't pass the exam this year in order to pass it and get accepted into the MBBS programme.
"I want to complete my MBBS, build a hospital, and deliver high-calibre healthcare in an honest way," he stated.
