Fee structure released for MBBS, PG Medical, Dental, Nursing courses at Private institutes in Puducherry, complete details here
Puducherry: Through a recent notice, the Chief Secretariat under the Government of Puducherry has released fee structure for MBBS, BSc Nursing, PG medical (Clinical)/ Non-Clinical, PG Dental (Clinical, Para-Clinical) courses in the unaided self-financing private medical, dental, and paramedical colleges in the Union Territory.
In its notice, the Chief Secretariat Health mentioned, "Consequent to the Proceedings passed on 8.9.2023 by the Hon'ble Justice S. Kannammal, Judge (Retd.) Hon'ble High Court of Madras, Chairman Fee Committee, Puducherry, towards fixation of fees for the PG Medical(Clinical/Non-Clinicau /PG Dental(ClinicallPara-Clinical)/ MBBS/ BDS/ B.Sc.(Nursing) courses in unaided Private Self Financing Medical, Dental & Paramedical Nursing Colleges of Union Territory of Puducherry."
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Madras HC issued an interim order and restrained Puducherry Government to enforce the newly introduced fee structure of August 18, 2023, for post-graduate medical students joining the courses in the academic year 2023-2024.
The HC bench of Justice R Suresh Kumar issued this interim order while considering a contempt plea filed by a private medical college in Puducherry. Meanwhile, the HC bench has clarified that the educational institutes are at liberty to collect fees as per the previous fee structure, which was fixed by the Fee Committee led by a Former Judge of the HC for the academic year 2022-2023.
Now, releasing the final fee structure for MBBS, Nursing, PG medical and dental courses, the Puducherry govt has issued a notice.
Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, and Sri Venkateswara Medical College Hospital & Research Centre are providing admission to UG Medical course- MBBS. For the Government quota, the fees stand out to be INR 4 Lakhs where INR 16.80 Lakhs and INR 21 Lakhs under management and NRI quota respectively.
Admission for PG Medical courses will be taken under Government and Management Quota for both clinical and non-clinical branches. The fees are varied on the basis of course and college.
Admission to PG medical in clinical and non-clinical courses is offered by Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences and Sri Venkateswara Medical College Hospital & Research Centre.
Students enrolling for a PG medical degree in a clinical branch will be charged INR 795000 under the government quota and INR 2390000 for the management quota. Students enrolling in Non-Clinical branches will be charged INR 655000 under the government quota and 1305000 under the management quota.
Admission to postgraduate dental courses will be based on a combination of government and management quotas for both clinical and non-clinical disciplines. The prices vary depending on the course and college. Mahe Institute of Dental Sciences and Sri Venkateswara Dental College are offering courses in PG Dental.
For PG Dental degree in the clinical branch is INR 622000 under the government quota whereas INR 1400000 under the management quota. Candidates opting for PG Dental in Para-Clinical Branches will be charged INR 553000 under the government Quota and INR 719000 under the management quota.
Students pursuing a course in B.Sc Nursing will be charged INR 42000 under the government quota. East Coast College, AG Padmavathi and RAAK College are offering courses in B.Sc Nursing.
This fee is an all-inclusive annual fee including various fees like admission fee, Tuition fee, Special fee, Laboratory / Computer / Maintenance and Amenities fee, Extracurricular activities fee and the other recurring expenditure. The Educational Institutions shall not be entitled to collect any kind of extra fees under any guise, except the fees fixed by the Committee. Any deviation will amount of violation of the Orciers of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and stringent action will have to be taken against the Management of such Institution by the appropriate authorities like Government of Puducherry, NMC and the Puducherry University. The penal action for violation shall also include withdrawal of approval by the NMC and disaffiliation by the University concerned along with hefty fine as penalty, stated the notice.
