FMGE December 2025 Analysis- Candidates say papers easy to moderate

New Delhi: The screening test for the medical graduates from abroad, i.e. the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE), was held by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on January 17, 2026.
Based on the feedback received from the students, who appeared in the screening test, the FMGE question papers (including both Paper 1 and Paper 2) were of an easy-to-moderate difficulty level.
As per the existing norms, the foreign medical graduates, after returning to India, must clear the FMGE screening test to be able to practice medicine in India. After passing in the FMGE exam, the FMGs are required to undergo the mandatory internship/clerkship in India before being awarded the permanent registration to practice medicine in the country.
It is NBEMS, which organises the FMGE screening test, which carries a total of 300 marks. The students must score more than 150 to qualify for the examination.

According to the FMGE exam pattern, Paper 1 carries 100 marks, and Paper 2 carries 200 marks. While Paper 1 includes questions from pre- and para-clinical subjects, Paper 2 includes questions for clinical subjects.
Recently, Paper 1 of the FMGE December 2025 session was conducted from 9 AM to 11:30 AM, while the students appeared in Paper 2 from 2 PM to 4:30 PM.
As per the latest media report by Shiksha, based on the reactions received from the students, the FMGE December 2025 Paper 1 was of a moderate difficulty level. The students have shared mixed responses, as a few students mentioned that Paper 1 was easy to moderate, while some of the students found the exam a little tricky.
In Paper 1, the questions were from Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, and PSM. Since Paper 1 was not very lengthy, the students were able to manage their time. However, the students also reported that several questions were out of the syllabus. However, as per the experts, 70% questions were doable.
Meanwhile, the students claimed that Paper 2 for the FMGE December 2025 session was moderate. According to them, even though the questions were easier, they were lengthy. Meanwhile, the questions from Medicine were allegedly unexpected but not difficult to attempt.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that earlier, while inviting online applications for the FMGE December 2025 session, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) had announced that the results of FMGE December 2025 would be declared by February 17, 2026.
