FMGE Shocker: More than 81 percent students fail June 2025 exam, only 18.6 percent pass

New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) recently released the results of the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) 2025.
Shockingly, only 18. 61% of the students cleared the screening test in June 2025, and more than 81% of the candidates who appeared in the FMGE June 2025 have failed to clear the exam.
As per the existing rules, it is mandatory for the medical graduates from abroad to clear the screening test i.e. Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE). After clearing the screening test, the FMGs undergo compulsory internship and only after that they become eligible to practice medicine in India.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that NBEMS released the results of the FMGE June 2025 exam. FMGE June 2025 was conducted on 26th July 2025 across the country. The result of FMGE June 2025 including the marks obtained by the candidates has been declared.
According to the results released by NBE, altogether 37207 candidates applied for the FMGE June 2025 session. Among them 1168 candidates were absent in the exam and NBE withheld 5 candidates. Therefore, only 36034 FMG students appeared in the screening test in July.
Among the 36034 candidates who appeared in the FMGE exam, altogether 29,327 candidates failed to clear the test, whereas a total number of 6707 candidates successfully qualified in the exam. Therefore, the pass percentage for the FMGE June 2025 is 18.61%, whereas 81.3% candidates failed the screening test. The withheld the results of altogether 5 candidates.

As per the notice issued by the NBE in this regard, each and every question asked in the question paper of FMGE June 2025 was reviewed by faculty members from the concerned speciality area after the conduct of FMGE June 2025 to re-check for technical correctness of the questions as well as answer keys. However, none of the questions has been found to be technically incorrect.
Over the years, FMGE has recorded poor pass percentage among those who appeared in the exam. However, in December 2024 exam, around 29.62% of the candidates had cleared the screening test. Therefore, from the last FMGE cycle, there has been a steep decline in the pass percentage.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that last year also more than 27,000 candidates i.e. around 81.7% candidates failed the FMGE June 2024 exam and only 21.6% of candiates cleared it.
For the June 2023 cycle of the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination, shockingly more than 87% of the candidates had failed in the exam. Only a very few candidates i.e. altogether 2474 medical graduates from abroad cleared the FMGE June 2023 test. However, what had shocked everyone is that a huge number of 21,180 candidates out of the total 24269 candidates failed the exam, therefore, resulting in the failure of more than 87% of the total candidates.
Similarly, in December 2023 cycle of the screening test, 78% candidates failed the test and only 20% candidates were able to clear it.
