HC rejects Medical College's plea seeking NMC permission for PG Medical Courses

Hyderabad: A Division bench of Telangana High Court has recently dismissed a plea by a medical college seeking permission from the National Medical Commission (NMC) for running Postgraduate medical courses for the coming academic year.
NMC, the apex medical education regulatory body had withdrawn the letter of permissions granted to the College after the institute submitted seven fake bank guarantee documents of Bank of Baroda.
Apart from withdrawing the letter of permission, the apex medical commission had also ordered shifting of students admitted for the academic years 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Following this, the management of the concerned institute, Maheshwara Medical College approached the High Court seeking relief. However, after considering the plea, the High Court single judge bench rejected the plea.

Consequently, challenging the order of the Single bench, the college management approached the division bench of the High Court. As per the latest media report by Deccan Chronicle, approaching the High Court, the counsel for the college submitted that the college had not committed any fraud. It was argued by the college's counsel that the fraud had been committed by the consultant with whom the college had an agreement. Further, the counsel claimed that the college had submitted genuine guarantees to NMC.
On the other hand, the counsel appearing on the behalf of NMC, Sriranga Poojitha brought to the norice of the court that even for the last academic year, i.e. 2022-2023, the college had admitted students on the basis of fake bank guarantees.
After taking note of the submissions, the High Court division bench comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji rejected the plea of the college seeking NMC permission for running PG medical courses.
