IIRF Rankings 2026: AIIMS New Delhi retains No 1 spot, here's the list of 144 top medical colleges

New Delhi: The International Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2026 has released its latest rankings of medical colleges across the country, with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, securing the top position once again.

AIIMS Delhi achieved the highest overall score of 953.32, maintaining its reputation as India's leading medical institution. Madras Medical College (MMC), Chennai ranked second with a total score of 952.67, while Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry secured the third position with 951.75 points.

King George Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow stood fourth with 950.76 points, followed by Pt. B.D. Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, which ranked fifth with 949.79 points.

Government Medical College, Kolkata ranked sixth with 948.71 points and Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU), Varanasi secured the seventh position with 947.57 points.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur ranked eighth with 946.00 points. Government Medical College, Chandigarh was placed ninth with 944.45 points, while the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Delhi completed the top ten with an overall score of 942.17.

IIRF is an organisation that publishes annual rankings of higher education institutions. IIRF is based in India and aims to provide evaluations of academic institutions worldwide. It is registered with India's Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) under the Companies Act, 2013.

The IIRF rankings assess institutions across multiple parameters, including teaching, learning resources, research output, industry integration, placement performance, future orientation, and external perception, to determine their overall performance.

The IIRF India Ranking conducts a comprehensive evaluation and ranking of over 2,500 institutions nationwide. This expansive assessment encompasses a formidable array of educational establishments, including 500+ universities, 300 premier engineering colleges, 300 distinguished B-Schools, and 300 undergraduate colleges specializing in BBA and BCA. Furthermore, its scope extends to more than 100 institutions each dedicated to fields such as jurisprudence (Law), creative arts (Design and Architecture), and the medical sciences—specifically, MBBS, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Public Health. Rounding out this extensive IIRF India Ranking is associated with the Education Post as its Print Partner, along with collaboration with Maction Consulting as a Research & Survey Partner.
