JIPMER issues notice on Basic, Advanced Life Support Skills Training during MBBS Internship
Puducherry: Through a recent notice, the JIPMER has informed about the Basic and Advanced Life Support Skills Training during MBBS Internship for Additional Batch 2020.
The Basic Advanced Life Support Skills Training Sessions are required to be attended by all the MBBS Interns of Add batch 2020 mentioned in the document attached below as per the schedule hereunder. Attendance is compulsory.

The Heads of the Departments of Paediatrics & Neonatology, Emergency Medicine & Anaesthesiology, Orthopedics & Neuro Surgery are requested to depute the Instructors and Faculty from the respective departments ensuring smooth training as mandated by the Governing Body of JI PMER.
All the concerned Heads of the Departments are requested to bring this circular to the notice of the Interns and permit them to attend the programme and not to post the Interns for night-duty.
BASIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAM FOR INTERNS
I. Department of Pediatrics & Neonatology- Duration: 2 days (BPLS/BNLS)
Day1: PALS Basics - Pediatric CPR, identification of shockable ECG rhythms, using the defibrillator- hands on training with assessment - Video based Algorithms.
Day 2: Essential newborn care, how to use the multi- parameter monitors- hands on training with assessment.
2. Department of Emergency Medicine & Anaesthesiology - Duration: 2 days (BCS)
Day 1 and 2: Adult BLS and Advanced Cardiac Life Support basics - Hands on Training with assessment + Video based Algorithms.
3.Department of Orthopedics and Neuro Surgery-Duration: 2 days (BTLS)
Day1 and 2: Assessment and management of polytrauma patients+ Video based Algorithms.
Incorporation of compulsory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training programmes during Internship of MBBS course is being implemented as per the decision of the Governing body of JIPMER(Vide No.GB-07/10 dated 05.09.2014).
The Heads of Department/ Units where the Interns are posted are therefore required to permit them on these specified days for these training sessions without fail.
Interns are required to contact the course Co-ordinators/ Instructors assigned for this purpose on these days.
