MBBS Syllabus would be translated to Hindi, said Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang

Indore: The Department of medical education came up with a plan now to translate the MBBS syllabus into Hindi which will also benefit the Hindi medium students.

A meeting chaired by Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang on January 28 had decided to form a committee to prepare a plan and submit a report for translating the MBBS syllabus into Hindi. According to an order published on February 7, deputy secretary of the medical education department KK Dubey stated that the decision to form the committee was taken on January 28.

In this regard, the state government has set up a committee of 13 members to prepare a work plan including Dr Jiten Shukla, director of Medical Education in MP, Dr. MLB Bhatt, former VC of King George's Medical University in Lucknow, Khemsingh Dehariya, VC of Atal Bihari Hindi University in Bhopal, Dr. Amitabh Verma, a senior neurologist in New Delhi, Dr. Surya Kant, HoD of Respiratory Medicine at King George's Medical University in Lucknow, Dr. Neelkamal Kapoor, professor and HoD at AIIMS in Bhopal, Dr. Manohar Bhandari, retired associate professor of physiology in Indore, Dr. Lokendra Dave, Hod of Respiratory Medicine at GMC in Bhopal, Dr. Ashish Gohiya, HoD of Orthopaedics at GMC in Bhopal, Dr. Satyakant Trivedi, senior psychologist at Bansal Hospital in Bhopal, Dr. BS Ohri, Care Foundation in Bhopal, Dr. Neha Mathur, dean of Ravindra Nath Tagore University in Bhopal, Dr. Rahul Rokade, OSD of Medical Education Department and Ankit Shrivastava, deputy registrar of MP Paramedical Council in Bhopal.

A distinct Hindi wing will be established in the Directorate of Medical Education to assist the committee in developing the Hindi syllabus, as well as sub-committees for the purpose.

Medical Education Minister, Vishwas Sarang told The Free Press Journal, "Our government has decided to offer MBBS education in the Hindi medium, as well. Hindi is our national language and there was a long-standing demand from various sections that MBBS education should also be provided in Hindi. Various researches have also shown that learning in one's mother tongue is beneficial and offers better results. It's scientifically proven. The whole syllabus will be translated without making any changes to it. We decided to translate the curriculum and start the MBBS education in the Hindi medium as early as possible."
