AIIMS begins open round INI SS July 2026 session counselling for 363 seats, details

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has opened the Open Round of institute allocation for Institute of National Importance Super Speciality (INI SS) July 2026 admissions, giving eligible candidates another opportunity to secure seats in DM and MCh courses across participating INIs.

Along with the counselling schedule, AIIMS has also released the detailed vacant seat matrix that will be considered for allotment in the final round.

The two notices, both issued by AIIMS New Delhi, outline the registration process, eligibility conditions, security deposit requirement, counselling dates and institute-wise vacancies across AIIMS institutions, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru and SCTIMST Thiruvananthapuram.

According to the schedule for the online registration for Open Round Institute allocation, AIIMS has announced that eligible candidates can exercise their choices for participation in the Open Round till August 13, 2026, up to 5:00 PM.

Candidates who wish to participate must log in through the AIIMS examination portal and access the Online Institute Allocation link available on their “My Page”. Those who participated in the first and second rounds can use their existing login credentials. Enter your Candidate ID and Password to log in. On “My Page”, click on the “Online Institute Allocation” link. Candidates who have participated earlier may use old login credentials which were used in 01st & 02nd round of counselling.

The result of the Open Round institute allocation will be declared on August 24, 2026.

Candidates allotted a seat will thereafter have to report and submit the prescribed documents between August 25 and August 31, 2026, with the final reporting deadline fixed at 5:00 PM on August 31. Below is the detailed schedule-

Participation in the Open Round will require candidates to deposit a security amount of Rs 3 lakh in the account of the Examination Section, AIIMS New Delhi, through RTGS, NEFT or another electronic mode of payment.

Candidates must also upload the payment details along with a cancelled cheque on the online portal. Candidates must have to submit/attached the payment details as well as a cancelled cheque in the online portal (My Page).

AIIMS has made it clear that candidates will not be considered for the Open Round unless they complete the required registration/willingness process, deposit the Rs 3 lakh security amount and upload proof of payment within the prescribed period.

The institute has further clarified that no additional round of institute allocation will be conducted by any participating institute after the Open Round for the July 2026 session.

Candidates who appeared in the INI-SS July 2026 entrance examination held on April 25, 2026, and secured 50 per cent marks or above are provisionally eligible to participate, subject to fulfilment of other prescribed conditions.

Institute allocation will be carried out according to candidates' merit in the AIIMS Merit List (AML) and Common Merit List (CML).

AIIMS has specified that candidates who applied for General seats will be considered only for General seats, while those who applied under the Sponsored category will be eligible only for Sponsored seats. There will be no conversion or merging between the two categories.

For admission to AIIMS New Delhi and other AIIMS institutions, candidates must mandatorily figure in the AIIMS Merit List. Candidates who are holding a seat at any Institute in the previous round are not eligible for this round.

Importantly, candidates who are already holding a seat allotted in a previous round will not be eligible for the Open Round. Candidates who are holding a seat at any Institute in the previous round are not eligible for this round. Sponsored and Foreign National candidates, however, can also participate subject to the applicable rules. Candidates who applied for General seats will be eligible only for General seats, and those who applied for sponsored seats will be eligible only for sponsored seats. There will be no merging of seats from general to sponsored or sponsored to general.

Separately, AIIMS has published the institute-wise and speciality-wise vacancy position for the Open Round. According to the seat matrix, a total of 363 seats are vacant for the DM and MCh super-speciality courses.

The seat matrix includes vacancies under General, Sponsored and Foreign National categories across a wide range of DM and MCh super-speciality programmes. Below is the detailed seat matrix-
