AIIMS Delhi invites applications for entrance exam for PhD admissions January 2026

Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has released an official admission notice inviting online applications for admission to its PhD Programme for the January 2026 session.
The entrance examination will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, according to the notification issued by the Examination Section of the institute.
As per the notice, the online registration process for the PhD programme will begin on January 12, 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications until January 26, 2026, up to 5:00 PM, through the official AIIMS examinations portal.
Meanwhile, the AIIMS PhD Entrance Examination 2026 is scheduled to be held on February 7, 2026 (Saturday). The examination will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and will have a total duration of 90 minutes.

The duration of the course shall be the period from registration to submission of the thesis. The minimum period of registration in respect of all the candidates who are registered for Ph.D. shall be three years. The maximum period of registration shall not exceed five years. Extension beyond the period of 5 years can be given for a maximum period of 6 months on the recommendation of the Dean Committee and final approval by the Dean/Director.
Further extension beyond 5 years & 6 months can only be given by the Academic Committee for a maximum period of 6 months in highly exceptional circumstances (like medical exigencies, natural calamities, etc.), and such extension may not be given retrospectively.
The Chief Guide of Ph.D. The student shall give a clear reason for the delay to the Academic Committee and must present the case before the Academic Committee.
