AIIMS INI SS January 2027: 2 seats added, tie-breaking criteria revised

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has issued an addendum revising the seat position for the INI SS January for the 2027 session and modifying the method for resolving ties in the entrance examination.
The update has been issued through an addendum in continuation of the INI-SS Prospectus Part-A for admission to DM and MCh courses for the January 2027 session.
According to the notice, the changes in seat positions have been made following communications received from AIIMS New Delhi and PGIMER Chandigarh.
At PGIMER Chandigarh, the number of General seats in DM Medical Oncology has been increased from 1 to 2, while Sponsored and Foreign National seats remain unchanged at zero.
At AIIMS New Delhi, DM Neuroimaging and Interventional Neuroradiology will now have 1 General seat, compared with none earlier. The number of Sponsored seats remains unchanged at 3, while there are no Foreign National seats.
REVISED SEAT POSITION
S.NO | COURSE/SPECIALITY | INSTITUTE | EARLIER GENERAL | EARLIER SPONSORED | EARLIER FOREIGN | REVISED GENERAL | REVISED SPONSORED | REVISED FOREIGN |
1 | DM Medical Oncology | PGIMER | 1 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 |
2 | DM Neuroimaging and Interventional Neuroradiology | AIIMS New Delhi | 0 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 0 |
AIIMS has further informed candidates that the number of seats may be increased or decreased at any stage depending on subsequent communications or approvals received from the participating institutes. Candidates have therefore been advised to fill their choices and preferences accordingly.
The addendum also revises Point No. 5(F) concerning the Method of Resolving Ties in the INI-SS prospectus.
Under the earlier provision, candidates securing equal marks were ranked sequentially on the basis of fewer negative marks, higher marks in the qualifying examination, and then age, with the older candidate getting preference.
Under the revised rule, the qualifying examination marks criterion has been removed. Ties will now be resolved first by fewer negative marks, then by date of birth, with preference given to the older candidate. All other provisions of the INI-SS January 2027 Prospectus will remain unchanged.
