AIIMS Raipur Registration Process For Admission To PhD Program To End On 22nd May, Check out Details
Raipur: The registration process for the entrance exam for admission to PhD program 2023 session has begun. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS Raipur) has announced that candidates can apply till 22.5.2023.
The candidates can submit applications for one PhD program only. Candidate may access the online application by clicking on the Google form link mentioned on the website (www.aiimsraipur.edu.in), i.e. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdh4ut2wyKPX3_khPQM1TaM0Hf1k6LRIhLe_yUzcEsR3aSZZw/viewform. The application form is enclosed in the notice below. The candidate has to upload a dully filled and signed application form to Google form.
Once a candidate clicks on submit button, a page containing some important instructions for payment, a payment reference number and a link to make payment of the application fee will open.
Candidates must fill all the fields carefully since after submission of the online application, requests for change in any information at any later stage will not be considered. Candidates note that their application will be treated as incomplete unless they pay the application fee.
Application fee and mode of payment –
1. General / OBC Category: Rs.1500/- + Transaction Charges as applicable
2. SC/ST Category: Rs.1200/- + Transaction Charges as applicable
3. PWBD Candidates are exempted from any Fee
Candidates can pay the application fee through NEFT. The candidate will bear additional charges, viz. bank charges, service tax, etc., incurred during online payment of application fees. Candidates are advised to take a print of the receipt of the application form fee for their records and future reference. The bank's details are enclosed in the notice below.
For all purposes for candidates applying under SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/ & PWBD category, the candidate must possess a certificate issued by a competent authority (as applicable to the category/format provided by AIIMS Raipur) within one year of the last date for Online Registration 22.05.2023 (i.e. issued between 21.05.2022 to 22.05.2023).
The candidates need to follow guidelines for scanning the photograph & signature. The guidelines are enclosed in the notice below.
Eighteen seats are available for PhD program 2023 session. The subjects included are Anatomy, Biochemistry, Community & Family Medicine, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, General Medicine, Microbiology, Orthopaedics, Pathology & Lab Medicine, and Physiology. All the subjects have been allotted 2 seats each.
Essential qualification -
The candidates must possess the qualification/eligibility criteria and degree mentioned against the subject they are applying for by 31.05.2023. The candidates completing their requisite qualification/eligibility criteria after 31.05.2023 are not eligible for this examination.
General eligibility criteria for admission of external candidates –
Candidates holding medical qualifications -
Must possess a Medical degree or a Postgraduate degree in the subject concerned or equivalent qualification included in any one of the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and National Medical Commission Act, 2019 or recognized by the respective regulatory bodies, and candidates who have obtained MBBS/BDS/MD/MS/MDS degree are eligible to apply.
Candidates holding non-medical qualifications -
1. Candidates who have obtained a Masters's Degree in any subject recognized by UGC from the colleges/institutes recognized by the respective regulatory bodies/UGC are eligible.
2. Candidates holding an M.Sc. degree in the nursing speciality will also be eligible for PhD admission.
3. Candidates possessing Masters's Degree through distance learning courses are not eligible.
Department-specific eligibility criteria for admission of external candidates are enclosed in the notice below.
Desired eligibility criteria for non-medical candidates (wherever applicable) –
The non-medical candidates should have preferably qualified in any one of the following national entrance tests in the last 2 years -
1. Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF
2. ICMR – JRF
3. ICMR- SRF
4. DBT – JRF
5. DBT - SRF
6. NBHM screening test
7. Graduate aptitude test (GATE)
8. INSPIRE fellowship
9. UGC – JRF
10. UGC - SRF
11. CSIR – JRF
12. CSIR – SRF
13. DST – JRF
14. DST - SRF
Candidates who have qualified in above said examinations leading to the award of fellowships would be given special weightage in the entrance examination as detailed in the method of selection part of the guidelines.
Candidates working under Central Govt./Semi Govt./Autonomous organization should submit their applications through the proper channel, i.e. employer. They will be required to submit a 'No Objection Certificate" from their employer before they are allowed to join the PhD Course.
Eligibility criteria for admission of in-service candidates from AIIMS, Raipur –
1. Applications will be entertained only from regular AIIMS, Raipur Faculty. Also, regular non-teaching Technical Staff will be considered for PhD registration as in-service candidates subject to other conditions laid down per PhD Guidelines, 2023 of AIIMS, Raipur and Central Civil Service (Conduct) Rules, 1964 in this regard.
2. Staff members of AIIMS, Raipur employed under various research schemes are on a tenure basis and are not permanent employees of AIIMS, Raipur, are not considered In-service / Internal candidates and must fulfil the eligibility criteria laid down for External candidates for application (vide Items 2A & 2B above and PhD Guidelines, 2023 of AIIMS, Raipur) through entrance examination.
Eligibility criteria for deputed/sponsored candidates and foreign nationals / overseas citizens of India –As per conditions laid down vide Items 6 & 7 of PhD Guidelines, 2023, AIIMS, Raipur, and Note 2 above.
AIIMS has further notified that a candidate possessing Masters's Degree through a distance learning course will not be eligible.
Duration of course –
The course duration shall be the period from registration to thesis submission. The minimum registration period for all candidates registered for a PhD shall be three years, i.e. the thesis cannot be submitted before three years. The maximum period of registration shall not exceed five years. Extension beyond 5 years can be given for a maximum period of 6 months on the recommendation of the Doctoral Committee and final approval by the Dean (Academics)/Director.
Further extension beyond 5 years & 6 months can only be given by the Academic Committee for a maximum period of 6 months in highly exceptional circumstances (like medical exigencies, natural calamities etc.), and such extension may not be given retrospectively.
Schedule of examination –
1. Date and Day of Exam - 11.06.2023 (Sunday) (Written Examination) (Pen Paper Based)
2. Duration of Exam - 12.00 PM to 01.30 PM
3. Scheme of Examination - MCQ (Questions: 90, Max. Marks: 90)
4. Exam Centre Location - AIIMS Raipur
5. The admit card will be released on 31.5.2023 (will be sent on the email of the candidate)
Method of selection for external candidates –
Selection for PhD registration will be through a two-stage performance evaluation as under –
1. Stage I: 40 Marks (40 MCQs of 1 Mark each): Aptitude-related MCQs covering English (Written and verbal skills), Biostatistics, Research Methodology, etc.
2. Stage II: 50 Marks (50 MCQs of 1 Mark each): Subject-related theory-based Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) mainly explore broad-based basic scientific knowledge and particularly analytical aptitude for research in the subject.
3. Total Marks (Stage I + II): 90 (40+50)
4. Total Duration (Stage I + II): 90 Minutes
5. Candidates must score at least 45 marks in stages I and II (combined) to be eligible for selection.
The Special Weightage of 10 marks will be added to the total score of Stages I and II for candidates who fulfil either of the following criteria –
Any Candidate who has qualified in any one of the following entrance tests in the last 2 years: Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, ICMR-JRF, ICMR-SRF, DBT-JRF, DBT-SRF, NBHM screening test, Graduate aptitude test (GATE), INSPIRE fellowship, UGC-JRF, UGC-SRF, CSIR-JRF, CSIR-SRF, DST-JRF, DST-SRF or are sponsored/deputed candidates.
Evaluation procedure for Stage I and Stage II –
Each correct (MCQ) answer will be awarded 1 mark. There will be no negative marking. More than one answer, overwriting, correction, questions not answered or marked for review will not be treated as correct.
The combined result of stage-I and stage II for PhD Courses will be available on the website of AIIMS Raipur (www.aiimsraipur.edu.in ). No individual intimation will be communicated to the candidate. Candidates who fail to attend any of the stages of examinations mentioned above will not be eligible for admission. Admission to PhD Course will be subject to the availability of research funds/fellowship/ grant/stipend from AIIMS, Raipur / recognized funding agencies.
After the declaration of results, selection letters will be issued by the Academic Section only to those candidates who have submitted Undertaking/Certificate proof of their funding sources through the concerned Heads of the Departments. This shall be in case of candidates who obtain any funding other than a stipend from AIIMS, Raipur.
Method of resolving ties for selection of external candidates –
For medical candidates –
If two or more candidates obtained equal marks in the entrance examination, their inter-se- merit for selection shall be determined based on the following –
1. Candidate who has made more attempts to pass the various professional MD/MS/DNB/MDS/MBBS examination shall rank junior to the candidate who has completed fewer attempts.
2. If the attempts made in passing MD/MS/DNB/MDS/MBBS professional examinations are also the same, then a candidate who has obtained higher marks in the MBBS examination shall rank senior to a candidate who has obtained lower marks. Suppose any candidate has not filled column no.10 (e) of the application form showing the percentage of aggregate marks in MBBS. In that case, they will rank junior to another candidate in inter-se-merit.
3. If the attempts made in passing MD/MS/DNB/MDS/MBBS professional examination and the marks obtained in the MBBS examination are the same, then a candidate senior in age shall rank senior to a candidate who is junior in age. A "Failure" in the examination or "Reappear" in the study will constitute an attempt.
For non-medical candidates –
If two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the entrance examination for admission to PhD, then their inter-se-merit for admission to the course shall be determined based on the following –
1. Candidate who has made more attempts to pass the Postgraduate examination would rank junior to the candidate who has made lesser attempts.
2. If attempts to pass the Postgraduate examination are also the same, then the candidate who has obtained higher marks in the Postgraduate examination will rank senior to a candidate who obtained lesser marks.
3. If attempts are made to pass the Postgraduate examination, and the marks obtained in the Postgraduate examination are also the same, then the candidate senior in age shall rank senior to the candidate junior in age.
Method of selection for in-house candidates from AIIMS, Raipur –
The candidate shall be exempted from appearing in the PhD entrance examination. Their candidature will be considered upon fulfilling the conditions under Item 5 of PhD Guidelines, 2023 of AIIMS, Raipur.
Joining –
Selected candidates are required to join before 15.07.2023. The competent authority may permit an extension of joining till 31.07.2023 based on the merit of each case. If the candidates fail to join by this date and no written request for extension is received by 31.07.2023, it will be assumed that they do not intend to join the course, and the seat will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.
The last date for admission to the course will be 31.08.2023. In any circumstances, the later date for admission will not be extended after 31.08.2023. This includes candidates on the wait list who may be offered a seat if the selected candidates do not join. Apart from In-house candidates, the PhD courses can be joined only as full-time courses after getting relieving letter from sponsoring agency.
Course fee & stipend for external candidates –
1. Course Fee – Rs 4125 for the entire course
2. Stipend – Rs 31000 per month for the first three years and then Rs 15000 for the next two years. No stipend will be given beyond 5 years.
The candidates note that the hostel security deposit (refundable), i.e. Rs. 1000. Fees and other charges, including hostel rent, once paid, shall not be refunded in any case, and no correspondence will be entertained in this connection. However, the caution money will be refunded to those candidates who do not join the course. The caution money must be claimed within one year after completion of the system, failing which it will be forfeited.
Fees for Foreign Nationals / Self-financed nominees/candidates and similar designations of the Indian Govt –
US Dollar is 75,000/- inclusive of all Items mentioned in (i) above for the entire course, to be paid in three equal instalments of USD 25,000/- each with a maximum gap of one year between payment of each instalment. Permission to write the thesis shall be subject to full payment of the fees.
