CENTAC notifies on special stray vacancy round for MBBS Admissions, details
Puducherry: The centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC) has issued details related to special stray vacancy round registration and submission of course preferences for UG NEET MBBS management quota only.
As per the notice, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) Directorate General of Health Services, Govt. of India vide Notice Ref. U-11011/01/2023-MEC dated 31/10/2023 has announced the conduction of a special stray vacancy round for NEET UG (MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing) courses to prevent wastage of precious seats. The notice reads, “All the NEET UG 2023 candidates are hereby informed that to prevent wastage of precious Medical seats, MoHFW has approached the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Diary No. 45004 of 2023 in WP (C) No. 76 of 2015 for extension of last date of admission of under graduate courses and to conduct a Special Stray Vacancy Round for vacant MBBS/BDS/B.Sc Nursing Seats of AIQ and State Quota. It is pertinent to mention that this Special Stray Vacancy Round will the last round for Under Graduate courses for this academic year i.e. 2023.”
In light of the above extension of time granted for admission and for the conduct of special stray vacancies round for vacant UG Courses, and based on clarification received from the Health Department, Government of Puducherry, the candidates who have been already admitted through Round 2 and Round 3 of UG NEET MBBS counseling conducted by CENTAC is valid and shall not take part in the special stray round of counseling for the remaining vacant seats after three rounds of regular counseling.
Special stray registration opening and closing dates, link for payment of tuition fees, vacancies, and submission of course preferences will be intimated shortly.
The Medical Counselling Committee, Directorate General of Health Services, Govt. of India have prescribed the following conditions for the conduct of Special Stray Vacancy Round for unfilled MBBS seats –
1. Candidates who are not holding any seat either in the All India Quota or State Quota are eligible to participate in the Special Stray Vacancy Round. However, candidates who did not join their seats allotted through MCC / State counseling Round-3 onwards are ‘Not Eligible’ to participate.
2. The Security Deposit of Candidates who do not join their allotted seat in the Special Stray Vacancy Round will be forfeited, and such candidates will be debarred from taking the NEET exam for the next year.
3. The data of the Allotted Candidates of Special Stray vacancy round conducted by MCC will be shared with states, and candidates who are allotted seats by MCC will be debarred from taking admission in state counseling.
Special stray registration for admission to the first-year MBBS courses under Management Quota in the UT of Puducherry will be opened shortly. Candidates may participate after submitting willingness, payment of registration fee (only for MBBS), and filling of course preferences. Round 3 admitted list and vacancy position for UG NEET MBBS will be published on the CENTAC website.
Eligibility –
All candidates who had opted for Management Quota and registered with CENTAC are eligible.
Non-eligibility –
However, candidates who have joined any of the NEET-based courses in Round 1/Round 2 / Round 3 or allotted any seat in Round 3/ in any further Stray Rounds of MBBS / BDS / BAMS are not eligible for special stray counseling.
Any fresh registration candidate for BDS seats or Government Quota candidates who opted for Management Quota BDS seats is not eligible.
Submission of willingness and course preferences –
All candidates registering for special stray counseling should submit willingness and course preferences afresh for this special stray vacancy round and pay the registration fee. If no course preference is made or the list for preference is found empty, then no seat will be allotted.
Details issued –
1. Candidates who have paid the Registration fee of Rs. 200000 /-in Round 2 or Round 3 and have not been allotted any seat need to pay the balance tuition fee and submit course preferences.
2. Candidates who have paid less than the Registration fee of Rs. 200000 /-in Round 2 or Round 3 and have not been allotted a seat need to pay the balance TUITION FEE and submit course preferences.
3. Candidates who had paid the Registration fee and allotted MBBS in Round 2 but did not join, their Registration Fee has been forfeited. So they need to pay the full tuition fee again.
4. Candidates who have already paid Rs. 200000 /- for stray round registration need to pay the balance tuition fee and submit willingness and course preferences again.
5. Candidates who did not join their seats allotted through MCC / State counseling Round 3 onwards are ‘Not Eligible’ to participate.
Tuition fee –
The candidates will have to pay the tuition fee of Rs. 1680000 for the management quota. Those opting for MBBS are requested to pay the full tuition fee to their CENTAC account through net banking or by generating NEFT / RTGS challan using the payment option available in the dashboard login credentials and proceed for payment. The amount to be paid is editable before generating challan. Read the HELP Instructions carefully before proceeding with payment. Only those candidates who pay the full tuition fee will be considered for stray counseling.
Forfeiture of tuition fee -
During special stray counseling, seats will be allotted only after the full tuition fee is paid to CENTAC. If the student fails to join the allotted college after special stray counseling, then the amount of Rs.16,80,000/- will be forfeited. Therefore, it is advised that candidates may be cautious and, exercise the due application of mind, and take a thoughtful decision before making a choice for a seat in Stray counseling.
Refund of tuition fee –
In case the candidate is not allotted any seat during stray, the fee paid will be refunded after stray vacancy counseling to the same account of the candidate from which payment had been made. The candidates should keep their bank account active until the refund process is completed. The candidates are advised not to use unrelated bank accounts for remitting fee amounts. CENTAC will not entertain such requests.
