DME Assam postponed round 3 NEET PG counselling after MCC directives

Guwahati: The Directorate of Medical Education (DME Assam), has postponed the third round of online counselling for admission to vacant postgraduate medical seats for the 2025 academic session.
The decision applies to Government Medical Colleges in Assam as well as Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati, under the Assam State Quota.
According to the official notice issued from Guwahati, the postponement has been carried out in pursuance of a directive from the Government of India, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi, dated January 7, 2026. As per the notice, the Round 3 counselling process has been deferred until further orders, and no revised schedule has been announced yet.
In a related development, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS will publish the revised AIQ schedule and the State Counselling schedule for PG Counselling 2025 after receipt of revised percentile eligibility for participation in counselling from the competent authority. States are advised not to proceed with round-3 of counselling until the schedule is uploaded by MCC.
The MCC has clearly advised all states not to proceed with the third round of PG counselling until the revised schedule is officially uploaded by MCC. The revised AIQ and State counselling timelines will be published only after receipt of the updated percentile eligibility criteria.
Candidates seeking admission to PG medical seats in Assam have been advised to regularly visit the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam, for the latest updates regarding the counselling schedule. Further instructions will be issued once the revised eligibility and counselling timelines are finalised by the central authorities.
