DME Tamil Nadu Informs on Discontinuation Of MBBS, BDS Courses to Candidates Allotted Seats In State Counselling
Tamil Nadu: The candidates who have joined the course for MBBS/BDS 2022-2023 in previous rounds of State counseling and who wish to discontinue the course can discontinue on or before 10-12-2022, 5.00 pm without penalty. The Director of Medical Education (DME Tamil Nadu) announced this through a written notice.
As per the notice, such candidates will not be eligible to participate in State Mop-Up Counselling, as these candidates are considered Round- II candidates.
The candidates who discontinue MBBS / BDS Courses after 10-12-2022, 5.00 pm should pay the Discontinuation Fee of Rs.1000000 by means of Demand Draft drawn in favor of "The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10" payable at Chennai, as per MBBS/BDS Prospectus 2022-2023 session.
Eligibility –
1. Indian nationals can apply for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission.
2. Non-residents of India (NRI) or Persons of Indian origin (PIO) are eligible for management/NRI quota seats.
3. Candidates 17 years or above are eligible as of 31st December 2022.
4. Candidates must pass class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks for the general category for Tamil Nadu MBBS 2022 admission. Students from SC/ST/OBC and PH categories need 40% and 45% marks in the class 12 examination.
5. Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects in class 12.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) is being conducted by NTA for admission to undergraduate medical education, with the approval of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and MHRD. No other test is valid for admission to UG courses. This test is conducted once a year.
The Department of Medical Education plays a pivotal role in developing medical and para-medical personnel to cater to the state's health needs. The department also has a role to play in establishing and maintaining well-equipped teaching institutions, which are the premier referral centers with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Research is another area of activity for the Medical Education Department.
Recently Medical Dialogues team reported that DME had announced that the candidates who wish to retain the seat of round 2 of online counseling need not participate in revised (extended) round 2 counseling for MBBS and BDS courses. The last date of joining of candidates allotted / re – allotted in round 2 of online counseling and revised (extended) round 2 counseling was extended up to 3.00 pm on 9.12.2022.
