Doctors Request MCC to Allow All previous rounds Candidates in NEET SS Round 3 Counselling

New Delhi: Writing to the Director of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the doctors have requested a fair and transparent NEET-SS 2024 Round-3 counselling process while declaring all candidates eligible, regardless of their admission status in earlier rounds.

Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) referred to the MCC notice dated 18.06.2025, where the Committee allowed candidates allotted seats in Round-1 and Round-2 of the NEET-SS 2024 counselling to resign from their seats after securing admission through the INI-SS examination.

The association opined that this development has resulted in the creation of multiple vacant seats in reputed institutes. Referring to this, to maintain transparency, fairness, and meritocracy, the association requested to allow all candidates in Round-3 of NEET SS counselling regardless of their admission status in the earlier rounds. The association has also requested for an extension of the resignation window.

"Given that the resignations by INI-SS candidates have led to the release of highly sought-after NEET-SS seats, it is only just and equitable that all NEET-SS 2024 candidates—regardless of their admission status in earlier rounds—be permitted to participate in Round-3, strictly in order of merit," the association mentioned in the letter dated 20.06.2025.

"Since the INI-SS 2025 counselling process is still ongoing and only rank letters have been issued so far, many candidates are in a state of uncertainty. They are forced to choose between resigning from NEET-SS seats prematurely or foregoing the opportunity to train at prestigious IN Is. To safeguard their academic future, we sincerely request that the resignation window for NEET-SS seats be extended until the conclusion of INI-SS counselling, i.e., 09.07.2025," the association further mentioned.

Apart from this, FAIMA has also requested MCC to schedule NEET-SS Round -3 counselling after the conclusion of INI-SS counselling "so that all vacated seats may be appropriately included and offered to eligible candidates in accordance with merit."

"These prayers are in alignment with previous communications from your office—Ref. No. U-12021/08/2023-MEC dated 29.11.2023, 13.12.2023, and 02.02.2024—and the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in W.P. (C) No. 32/2024 (Vandeep Singh Basra & Ors. vs. Union of India & Ors.) dated 31.01.2024," stated the letter.
