INI CET July 2024 At PGIMER: Know admission details for MD, MS, MDS courses
Chandigarh- Registration for Institutes of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) for admission to postgraduate (PG) courses (MD, MS, DM (6 years), MCh (6 years) and MDS) for July 2024 is about to end, therefore, candidates are advised to apply before the deadline closes by today by 5pm. These PG courses are offered at AIIMS, New Delhi as well as other AIIMS, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, PGIMER Chandigarh and SCTIMST Thiruvananthapuram for the July 2024 session.
Regarding this, 2 separate prospectus have been released for INI CET at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh detailing the eligibility criteria, fees, reservation of seats, etc for the MD, MS and MDS admissions.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR MD AND MS COURSES
1 The eligibility for the MD and MS courses of PGIMER Chandigarh will be as per eligibility for appearing in INI-CET.
2 However, a candidate must possess an MBBS degree and he/she must have either completed or due to complete one year of rotatory internship training on or before 31st January and 31th July for January and July sessions respectively. Candidates who fail to complete his/her internship on or before 31st January and 31st July for January and July sessions respectively will not be considered for admission.
3 Must be registered with the Central /State Medical Registration Council.
FOR SPONSORED CANDIDATES
1 The eligibility of Sponsored candidates will be the same as for candidates as mentioned from (1) to (3) above
2 It will be mandatory for the sponsored category candidates to submit NOC and relieving certificates from their employers before joining the course.
FOR FOREIGN NATIONAL CANDIDATES
A candidate must have passed MBBS or equivalent degree. Candidate(s) must obtain the certificate of grading system from his/her University / Institution to determine the value of grading in percentage to be produced.
FOR GRADUATED FROM FOREIGN UNIVERSITY CANDIDATES
Indian National candidates who have been graduated from foreign Universities must have passed the MCI Screening Exam or Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) exam conducted by NBE, Govt. of India, Delhi.
FOR OVERSEAS CITIZEN OF INDIA (OCI) CANDIDATES
Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)/PIOs are not required to obtain NOC, however, they have to upload the scanned copy of their OCI card on or before the due dates.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR MDS COURSES
1 The eligibility for the MDS course at PGIMER, Chandigarh will be as per eligibility for appearing in INI-CET.
2 However, a candidate must possess a degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) recognised by the Dental Council of India and he/she must have either completed or due to complete, one year of rotatory internship training on or before 31st December for January session and 30th June for July session respectively. Candidates who fail to complete his/her internship after 31st January or 31st July for the January and July sessions respectively will not be considered for admission.
3 Must be registered with the Central/State Dental Registration Council.
FOR SPONSORED CANDIDATES
1 The eligibility of Sponsored candidates will be the same as for candidates mentioned from (1) to (3) above.
2 It will be mandatory for the sponsored category candidates to submit NOC and relieving certificates from their employers before joining the course.
FOR GRADUATED FROM FOREIGN UNIVERSITY CANDIDATES

RESERVATION OF SEATS FOR MD, MS AND MDS COURSES
SCHEDULED CASTE (SC), SCHEDULED TRIBE (ST) & OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES (OBC)
1 The PGIMER Chandigarh provides Reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer (OBCNCL), wherever applicable and admissible as per instructions from the Government of India
2 All candidates, irrespective of category may be considered against UR vacancies, subject to fulfilment of parameters for UR candidates. However, against the vacancies earmarked for specific categories (SC/ST/OBC), only candidates belonging to that community will be considered.
3 For availing reservation, SC/ST/OBC candidates should furnish a Caste Certificate from competent authorities.
RURAL AREA SERVICE (APPLICABLE FOR MD AND MS COURSES)
5% of the sanctioned seats on a horizontal basis which is further bifurcated into six sessions (three years) in the MD/MS course are reserved for those candidates who have actually worked, are working, or have carried practice in a rural area for a minimum of two years on or before 31st July/31st January for July & Jan session respectively. Candidate applying under this category is required to furnish a certificate (as per the format given in Annexure IV) from the District Magistrate concerned in support of the claim. According to the orders of the Government of India, the term ‘rural area’ includes a “primary health centre, a village, or a town with less than 5000 population and without a Municipal area”. The certificate to be furnished by the candidates should certify that he/she served or is actually serving or has carried on private practice in a village, primary health centre, or town with less than 5000 population and without Municipal area.
COUNSELLING AND JOINING FORMALITIES OF MD, MS AND MDS COURSES
Allocation of various disciplines of MD/MS courses will be done by the combined online counselling of the Institute of National Importance. First, and second, an open round of online counselling and spot rounds (if needed) will be conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi for all the INIs. The terms and conditions of INI-CET for the first, second, open round & spot round of counselling and admission will be applicable to all the candidates. Counselling of sponsored candidates will however, be done at PGIMER Chandigarh physically, the date of which will be notified on the PGIMER, Chandigarh official website.

INI-CET for the July 2024 session will be conducted in Computer Based Testing (CBT) mode on Sunday, May 19, 2024, across all cities in India and the result is likely to be declared on Saturday, May 25, 2024. However, the last date for admission to the courses is August 31, 2024, and the course will commence on 1st July 2024.
