Puducherry- Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has invited applications for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme for the academic year 2024. The candidates who are seeking admission for the PhD (Full-time / Part-time) will have to appear for the entrance examination which will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only. The examination will be held on Sunday, 07th July 2024 from 9.00 AM – 10.30 AM.

The duration of the examination shall be 1½ hours. Therefore, all candidates will be required to appear at the CBT Online Entrance Examination, which will be conducted on Wednesday, 07th July 2024. The venue and time of the examination will be mentioned in the Admit Card/HallTicket. The examination centres are tentatively proposed in 6 cities in India. No candidate will be permitted to appear in the examination unless he/she holds a valid "Admit Card/Hall ticket" issued by the Institute and a proof of their identification.

Prior to appearing in the entrance examination, interested candidates need to submit the application through online mode only. Any other mode of application will not be accepted under any circumstances. To register for the course, candidates have to visit the JIPMER main home page on the official website of JIPMER and then go to the link “Apply Online for PhD Admission – 2024”. Candidates need not send a hard copy of the application.

ELIGIBILITY FOR FULL-TIME PhD COURSE

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of PhD degree must possess any one of the following qualifications-

1. A Medical qualification: MD/MS/DM/MCh from a recognised medical college or Diplomate of National Board of Examination in the particular subject as per the project's requirement. The degree(s) should have been registered with the MCI.

B Non-Medical Qualification: Master’s Degree (2/3-year course) from a UGC-recognized Indian University or equivalent in the subject as per requirement of the project.

2. Candidates should have at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

3. Candidates with a Master’s Degree through a distance-learning mode are NOT ELIGIBLE

4. The candidates, who are likely to complete the requisite qualification and degree by 31st July 2024 may also apply. However, they must complete all the requirements for such qualification by this date, and those completing these after 31st July 2024 will not be eligible.

Meanwhile, the eligibility for part-time PhD (in-service candidates) is as per the PhD Revised Guidelines 2020.

2 Applicant can opt only for three exam cities.

3 The allotment of Exam City would be as per the order of preference chosen by the applicant during online registration on a first-cum-first serve basis and on the availability of a vacancy at the chosen centre.

4 JIPMER, depending upon local conditions, reserves the right to allot any other Exam City other than the preferences given by the applicant.

5 No request for a change of centre would be considered under any circumstances.

6 The Exam City preference is only indicative and is subject to change; Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research retains the final decision on the same and its allotment.

7 If seats for the Entrance Exam are unavailable in the chosen 3 exam cities, nearby (exam) cities will be considered for the venue.

8 In case of any unforeseen circumstances, the Exam City can be cancelled at any point of time and a new Exam City can be allotted en bloc with due intimation in website/ text message.
