Puducherry: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has begun the admission process for its Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) and Post Doctoral Certificate Courses (PDCC) for the July 2026 session, giving aspiring candidates a clear roadmap of important dates, eligibility criteria, and exam details.

With registrations opening from April 28, 2026, applicants are encouraged to complete the process on time and carefully follow the guidelines as mentioned in the official notification.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO PDF & PDC COURSES

a. Candidate should be a n Indian National or Overseas citizen of India. (OCI registered under

section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955, should submit proof of Registration as OCI under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 at the time of admission failing which admission will stand cancelled)

b. Candidates should have passed MD/MS/DNB/DM/MCh Degree from any Institute / University recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

c. The degree mentioned above must be registered with the National Medical Commission / State Medical Council.

d. Candidates should have completed the qualifying postgraduate course / experience on or before June 30, 2026.

Read the prospectus and instructions carefully before starting the application process and be ready with the required documents/photograph/signature.

1. Online Registration:

Visit the home page of institute’s website i.e. www.jipmer.edu.in and navigate to the link “Application Link for PDF & PDCC COURSES - July 2026”.

FULL NAME entered by the candidate in the application must match with both his/her Govt. Photo ID Card (Aadhaar Card / Pan Card / Identity Card / Driver’s License etc.) and MD/MS/DNB/DM/M.Ch. Degree Certificate. (Spelling and order must be same – if it is not same, the candidate is advised to get it changed in the above-mentioned document/documents before applying.)

2. Entry of candidate details & uploading of required documents:

The candidates should fill the details carefully. No request for change in the details provided by the candidate in the application will be considered or entertained after submission of the online application.

Photograph

• One recent color passport size photograph with light background is required. Black & White / Polaroid photographs are not acceptable.

• Photograph MUST be taken on or after 01.01.2026. The photograph must be taken with a placard held by the candidate indicating the name of candidate and the date of taking photograph in legible manner. Applications with name and date added/edited after capturing the photograph will be rejected.

• Specifications of the photograph: 30 mm width × 45 mm Height, named of the file:

“Candidate Photograph.jpg”. Size of file: between 20 KB and 80 KB.

Signature:

Candidate must scan his/her signature placed on a plain white sheet in an area of 80 mm Width × 35 mm Height with a black ball point pen, cropped to size of 80 mm Width × 35 mm Height and saved as “Candidate Signature.jpg”. Permissible file size is between 20 KB and 80 KB.

3. Online Payment:

Application fees for each category as mentioned below should be paid by the candidate using online transaction. No other mode of payment will be accepted.

Once paid, entrance examination fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

4. Confirmation page

a. The process of submission of application online is completed only after clicking the “submit button” after uploading candidate details, Scanned Photograph, and Signature.

b. Candidates are advised to download a copy of their filled in application with all the application details.

c. Candidates need NOT send hard copy of the application to the Institute.

d. If the candidate finds an error of entry committed by him/her in the application after the submission of application fee, a fresh application should be submitted, and fee should be paid again. The earlier application will automatically stand cancelled. No E- Mail or Written communication will be entertained in this regard.

Mere completion of registration & making payment does not confer right for receipt of Hall Ticket.

Incomplete applications and applications with false/wrong details can lead to rejection of candidature at any stage.

HALL TICKET

• Candidates can download their Hall Tickets for the Entrance Examination from 26-05-2025 (Tuesday) onwards.

• The Hall Ticket will contain:

(1) Name and date of birth as typed by the candidate in the application

(2) Photo and signature image as uploaded by the candidate

(3) Examination City allotted and Roll Number

• Candidates will be allowed to appear for the Entrance Examination only if he/she produces the hall ticket, Identity proof in original & a photocopy of the same.

• Candidates are STRICTLY PROHIBITTED from writing anything on the Hall Ticket or on the photocopy of the identity card.

• This Hall Ticket is issued subject to condition that if ineligibility is detected at any stage, the candidature will be cancelled.

PAYMENT FAILURE CASES

When a payment fails while paying the application fees, there could be two possibilities.

1. The amount is not debited –

In this case, ‘Payment failure’ message will be displayed on the screen and an SMS will normally be received by the candidate from his/her bank stating that the payment could not be processed.

2. The amount is debited –

In this case, an email may be sent to superspecialtyjipmer@gmail.com to know the status of that payment.

Possible Reason(s) for Payment Failure:

Poor internet connection, Authorization failure, Authentication failure – Wrong details entered, Delayed notification, Payment gateway failure, etc.

When a transaction fails on the receiver's side, but the payment gets debited from the user's account, the amount gets automatically refunded by the bank within 10-15 working days. Most banks do not notify users in case of refunds, so the candidates are advised to check with your bank statement to ensure that the refund has been credited.

In the meantime, the fees can be paid again.

If it takes a long period for refund, an email may be sent to superspecialtyjipmer@gmail.com with the following details:

The status of the refund will be intimated.

The refund will be made to the same account from which the payment was initiated by the candidate.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Entrance Examination will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only.

The duration of the examination shall be 1 hours (One hour).

No candidate will be permitted to appear in the examination unless he/she holds a valid "Hall Ticket" issued by the Institute and an ID proof of their identification.

METHOD OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

The examination shall be conducted in ENGLISH medium ONLY.

The Entrance Examination consists of 60 single best response type multiple choice questions (MCQs) with four options.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES

Reporting time at the exam venue: 07.00 AM and the entry to examination center closes at 08:15 AM. Entry will NOT be permitted beyond 08:15 AM under any circumstance. The exam venues will be in the perimeter of 25 to 30 km from the main city. The candidates are advised to visit the exam venue one day before the examination to familiarize with the location of the Exam Centre.

Exam starts at 09:00 AM and No Candidate will be permitted to leave the exam hall before 10:00 AM (i.e., time of close of examination) except in case of acute health related issues.

Candidates should carry ONLY Hall Ticket along with Valid Identity proof (in original) and photocopy (Xerox) of the same ID proof inside the hall. No other paper will be allowed inside the hall. Candidates will NOT be allowed to enter the examination center without valid Hall Ticket & Valid ID Proof.

Valid ID Proof: ID Proof other than those mentioned below will NOT be permitted /accepted under any circumstances.

• Aadhaar / E-Aadhaar

• Bank Passbook with photograph

• Voter ID

• Driving License/ PAN Card

• Any other valid Government Identity Proof with photograph

1. Candidates are advised to check the seating plan and identify the room / lab allotted as per their Hall Ticket number, which will be displayed outside the halls.

2. Candidates taking the Entrance Examination will be subjected to thorough frisking before being allowed into the hall.

3. Biometric authentication through digital device and hard copy of signature and iris scan / fingerprints in attendance sheet will be taken. Cooperation of the candidate is solicited. The candidates are strictly advised NOT to wear any colour or mehandi in their fingers which may interfere with biometric fingerprint (if required).

4. The test will start exactly at the time mentioned in the Hall Ticket and an announcement to this effect will be made by the invigilator.

5. The candidate is solely responsible to get the signature and seal of the Centre Representative/ Invigilator on their Hall ticket. Failure to do so is liable for disqualification. Before leaving the hall, Hall Ticket and the photocopy of the ID proof should be handed over to Invigilator.

6. During the examination, the invigilator will check hall ticket of the candidates to satisfy himself/herself about the identity of each candidate.

7. The candidate must sign in the Attendance Sheet at the appropriate place and affix the Left Index Finger impression against the appropriate column of the attendance sheet. Failure to comply to this requirement will lead to the annulling of his/her candidature without any prior intimation.

8. Cellular phones, calculators, watch, alarm clocks, digital watches with built-in-calculators/ memory, earphones and other electronic gadgets etc. will not be permitted inside the hall. Candidates are solely responsible for the safe keeping of their belongings. Arrangements will NOT be made by the duty staff for safe keeping and returning the gadgets if brought by the candidates.

9. Once inside the Examination Centre, premises, all candidates will be under surveillance & activities will be monitored. Hence, candidates are advised NOT to indulge into any unlawful activities which will invite disqualification & legal actions.

10. Smoking in the Examination Hall is strictly prohibited. Tea, coffee, cold drinks or food & snacks are NOT allowed in the Examination Halls.

11. For those who are unable to appear on the scheduled date of examination for any reason, re-examination shall NOT be held by JIPMER under any circumstances.

12. JIPMER reserves the right to reschedule the date / time of the examination depending upon local conditions.

MERIT LIST AND DECLARATION OF RESULTS

Merit Ranking would be based on the percentage score.

• Merit List would be drawn discipline-wise, based on Percentage and will be published tentatively on JIPMER website.

• Candidates who secure less than the minimum Percentage in the Entrance Examination will NOT be considered for admission and their names will NOT be included in the Merit List.

• Requests for re-evaluation/re-checking will not be entertained under any circumstances.

• No E-Mail or Written communication will be entertained in this regard.

• In each discipline (specialty) the total no. of candidate to be called for certificate verification may be Three (3) times the no. of seats available in each discipline.

• Individual letters will NOT be sent to the SELECTED CANDIDATES and to those who are placed in the waiting list. Please check the website for the lists. Candidates and parents are advised to browse the website periodically for updated information. They will be required to attend Certificate Verification at the Institute at their own cost on the notified date.

ADMISSION

Admission to all candidates is based on the merit of the candidates and the availability of seats at the time of certificate verification. After admission, the Original Certificates will be retained in the Academic Section and returned only after the candidate completes the course or resigns from course for any reason.

It is mandatory for all candidates to be physically present that is, in person for Certificate verification on the day. No request for authorized representative on behalf of candidate will be entertained. If a candidate fails to come for certificate verification in person, she/he will be marked as absent and her/his candidature will stand cancelled.

If a candidate withdraws his/her seat after submission of original certificates and before issue of the admission order/before joining, a penalty of Rs. 3,00,000/- will be imposed and admission fees paid will not be refunded.

All candidates should report on the date mentioned in their 'Allottment letter / JIPMER website', failing which, their right of admission will be forfeited. At any time, if the competent authorities find that admission has been offered based on false/incorrect information/documents and suppression of relevant facts, educational qualification or quota, the admission offered or the admission already completed shall be cancelled, irrespective of the stage of study of that course. Further, legal proceedings will also be initiated against such candidates for such action/(s). Hence, candidates are warned against indulging in such action/(s), in their own interest.

No candidate will be admitted to the PDF & PDCC COURSES beyond 31st August 2026. Seats falling vacant beyond 31st August 2026 will not be carried forward to next session.

(Caution deposit will be refunded only after successful completion of the course) Admission fees should be paid by candidate through SBI Collect (the link will be provided on JIPMER website) after publication of merit list. Admission fee once paid will NOT be refunded under any circumstances.

LEAVE ELIGIBILITY:

As per JIPMER rules leave rules.

EMOLUMENTS:

Emoluments as applicable to the post of Senior Resident. However, sponsored candidates are not entitled for any emoluments.

LOGBOOK:

The students should maintain a logbook to maintain the record of day-to-day activities.

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT:

Internal assessment/progress report will be evaluated periodically by the Faculty Members of the concerned department on the practical skills, attitude, patient care (logbook), presentation skills and theoretical knowledge of the candidate. The Head of the Department will send such an internal assessment/progress report of each candidate on regular basis to the Academic Section for official records.

EXIT / FINAL EXAMINATION:

Exit / Final examinations will be held as per JIPMER rules / regulations / conventions. Eligibility to appear in the exit / final examinations will be as per the leave rules mentioned above and any other periodic directives issued by JIPMER.

LEAVING THE COURSE (MID – STREAM DEPARTURE):

Any candidate who discontinues the course at any time will be relieved under the following conditions:

• Any fees paid will not be refunded. Further, the penalty for discontinuance of the Residency scheme contract executed by the candidate will apply for relieving the candidate as well as the other terms and conditions governed by CCS rules from time to time.

• In addition to the penalty amount, the candidate must either give one-month notice period (or) pay one-month salary/stipend as detailed below:

Penalty for mid-stream departure (Applicable from the point of deposition of original certificates)
Mid-Stream Departure Period Penalty to be paid (INR)
Deposition of original certificates to issue of Admission order/joining the department Rs. 3,00,000 (Three Lakhs Only)
Within Six Months from the date joining (inclusive of the notice period if submitted) Rs. 3,00,000 (Three Lakhs Only) + (One Month Salary (OR) One Month Notice Period)
After Six Months from the date of Joining Rs. 5,00,000 (Five Lakhs Only) + (One Month Salary (OR) One Month Notice Period)
