Man duped of Rs 13 lakh in MBBS admission fraud, Crime branch chargesheets 2 accused
Srinagar: A case of fraudulent MBBS admission has surfaced in Jammu and Kashmir, where a man was allegedly defrauded of Rs 13 lakh on the pretext of securing an MBBS admission for his son. In this regard, the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has filed a charge sheet.
CBK has issued an official statement regarding this matter. In the statement, CSK said that the charge sheet in FIR number 10/2024 has been filed under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code in the court of the Sub-Judge, Baramulla.
According to crime branch, the case began with a written complaint alleging that the complainant was contacted by a doctor, who allegedly works at Al-Ameen Medical College in Bijapur, Karnataka, and who assured him that he could secure admission for his son in the MBBS program through the accused.
Trusting him, the complainant paid Rs 13 lakh. However, CBK stated that neither the complainant's son got admission to any medical college nor were the funds returned. Therefore, after realising that they had been cheated, the victim filed a complaint.
Following the complaint, the Economic Offences Wing of the police station, CBK, launched a detailed investigation. According to CBK, the investigation revealed that the accused, in connivance with his brother had hatched a criminal conspiracy and defrauded the complainant's son by falsely promising him admission to KBN Medical College, Bijapur.
CBK stated that the investigation revealed that the accused had committed offences punishable under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. Consequently, CBK said that after initiating proceedings under Section 512 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the charge sheet was filed in the competent court in the absence of the accused, reports DailyExcelsior.
