MBBS admission fraud: 14 including 2 police constables booked for duping aspirant of Rs 17 Lakh
Bhadohi: Promising an MBBS seat at Motilal Nehru Medical College in Prayahraj, Fourteen individuals, including two police constables, have been booked for allegedly duping a medical aspirant and his father of Rs 17 lakh.
It is reported that an FIR was registered following a court order as the police previously did not take action and refused to register the case. After submitting a petition in court on February 14, 2023, Judicial Magistrate Kamlesh Kumar ordered the registration of the case on January 3, 2025.
The victim aspirant in his statement alleged that he was promised admission at Motilal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj but in return got scammed by them. He also alleged that after they reported the incident to the police, the accused constables summoned both him and his father, locked them in a room, physically assaulted them, and pressured them to withdraw their complaint.
The accused in this case have been identified as Kulbhushan alias Kuldeep Mishra, Rajan Tripathi, constables Singh and Tripathi and 10 other unknown persons.
As per The Hindu, news report, the incident took place in 2021 when the aspirant, Yadav met Kulbhushan and Rajan during coaching classes in Varanasi. Later, he was introduced to Constable Singh, who was serving in the crime branch of Bhadohi police at the time.
The accused allegedly manipulated the aspirant into believing that he would get admission into the medical college and took the money. Afterwards, Yadav was provided with a forged admission card.
When they discovered that they were scammed, Neeraj and his father approached the police but received no help as even after about the matter to both the police station and senior police officers, no FIR was initially registered.
Following the court's intervention, the police registered an FIR against the 14 accused under relevant sections on January 4. An investigation is underway in this regard.
