MBBS admissions at AIIMS: Stray Vacancy round deferred
New Delhi: After JIPMER, now the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has issued a notification informing about the postponement of stray vacancy round for MBBS course for all AIIMS 2020 session.
As per directions of the MCC and Competent Authority of AIIMS, New Delhi the Stray Vacancy Round for filling up the MBBS seats for 2020 session for all Nineteen AIIMS Institutions which remained vacant after Mop-Up Round was scheduled to be held on 30th December 2020 at 9.00 A.M. at Jawaharlal Auditorium, AIIMS, New Delhi. Subsequently, the Medical Examination of the selected candidates for all AIIMS was to be held on 31/12/2020 between 8.30 A.M. to 5.00 P.M.
However, now the counselling as been deferred till further orders.
The notice clearly states: In continuation of the office letter dated 16th December 2020 on the above cited subject, the Assistant Controller of Examination, Examination Section is informed that the Stray Vacancy Round and Medical Examination stands postponed till further orders.
The date for the stray vacancy round of counselling will be notified later, the notice read.
An Act of Parliament in 1956 established the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as an autonomous institution of national importance and defined its objectives and functions. By virtue of this Act, the Institute awards its own medical degrees and other academic distinctions. The degrees awarded by the Institute under the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act are recognized medical qualifications for the purpose of the Indian Medical Council Act and notwithstanding anything contained therein, are deemed to be included in the first schedule of that Act, entitling the holders to the same privileges as those attached to the equivalent awards from the recognized Universities of India.
