MCC informs about NEET, NEET PG Counselling Schedules, details
New Delhi: With the Supreme Court verdict finally being announced clearing the way for the NEET AIQ admission process, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has specified the overall reservation policy for candidates while declaring that NEET and NEET PG counselling schedules will be released soon.
The MCC conducts NEET and NEET PG counselling for All India Quota seats: 15 per cent for MBBS and BDS seats and 50 per cent for PG Medical seats.
"Counselling Schedule for NEET-PG and UG 2021 counselling will soon be uploaded on Official website of MCC, DGHS," the MCC said. It also notified the Supreme Court decision on EWS and OBC reservation as well as the approved reservation policy for this academic year's medical admissions.
As per the Supreme Court order, there will be 27 per cent reservation in MBBS and PG medical seats of the all India quota. For the EWS quota, 10 per cent existing reservation has been permitted for this year, so that the counselling process can take place, whereas, for the upcoming years, the criteria of the quota will be decided in the next hearing scheduled for March 2022.
The said reservation policy for 15% AIQ seats (UG) & 50% AIQ seats (PG) for the academic year 2021 is as follows:
1. S.C. - 15%
2. S.T. - 7.5%
3. PwD- Horizontal Reservation as per NMC norms: 5 %
4. O.B.C. - (Non-Creamy Layer) as per the Central OBC list: 27%
5. EWS- as per Central Government norms: 10%
Medical Dialogues had reported about the delay in NEET PG counselling which has kept the admission process in limbo. The case was originally slated for hearing on January 6. However, resident doctors have been protesting in Delhi seeking an early hearing, since the NEET PG counselling has been put on hold due to the pending matter. When the matter finally came up before the bench, the Supreme Court had passed an interim order with the following directions after 2-day consecutive hearing:
1. We accept the recommendations of the Pandey committee that the criteria which has been stipulated in OM 2019(for EWS) be used for 2021–20 22 in order to ensure that the admission process is not dislocated2. Counselling on the basis of NEET PG 2021 and Neet UG 2021 shall be conducted by giving effect to the resolution as provided by the notice dated 29 July 2021 including the 27% reservation for OBC category and 10% reservation for EWS category in the all India quota seats3. The criteria for determination of the EWS notified by OM 2019 shall be used for identifying the EWS category who appeared for Neet UG and Neet PG 2021 examinations4. The validity of the criteria determined by the Pandey committee for identifying the EWS prospectively for the future be subject to the final results of the petitions.
