MP NEET PG Counselling 2024: DME notifies on State Specific Merit for Round 2, check out details
Madhya Pradesh: Through a recent notice, the MP DME has informed about the State Specific Merit for the Second round of Counselling for MP State combined NEET PG admissions 2024.
The Madhya Pradesh Director of Medical Education (MP DME) has informed to all participating candidates that after the lowering of the qualifying percentile by NBEMS, fresh registrations for eligible candidates have been opened. The registration data, including newly registered in-service candidates, will be sent to the National Board of Examination in Medical Science (NBEMS) for preparation of the State-Specific Merit.
This is clarified that the second round merit may differ from 1st round and that the rank and percentile of all those candidates who had been registered before the first round of counselling may also change. Allotment for second round will strictly be as per second round merit being provided by NBE. Registered candidates of the second round will not have any claim on the basis of first round state merit.
All participating candidates are advised to verify their eligibility and engage in the second-round counselling process based on the updated merit list to secure allotments.
Medical DIalogues recently reported that observing that the criteria formulated by the Madhya Pradesh Government for allotment of postgraduate medical seats under the NRI quota "fair" and "reasonable", the Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the concerned authorities to hold fresh special counselling to fill up the vacant NRI quota seats in the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024 counselling and complete the admission process at the earliest.
Further, the HC Division Bench comprising Justices Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Anuradha Shukla also noted that without any challenge to the relevant rules, the Court could not interfere with the allotment of seats under the 15% NRI quota made by private medical colleges under its Article 226 jurisdiction.
"Moreover, the criteria formulated for allotment of seats by the State Govt. appears to be fair, reasonable and in compliance with statutory requirements. It also reflects a balance approach to meet institutional financial needs and ensure fairness in admissions," observed the High Court bench.
"Since, the rules are silent with respect of branch-wise allotment of NRI Quota seats in private medical colleges and since the petitioner has not challenged the vires of the rules, therefore, this Court cannot interfere with the legality of the said rules in exercise of power under Article 226 of the Constitution of India," it further noted.
