NEET 2023: Check out top medical colleges in Tamil Nadu for MBBS admissions this year
Tamil Nadu: MBBS admissions across Tamil Nadu are based on the NEET UG entrance exam. This year NEET was conducted on 7th May.2023, and more than 1.47 lakh candidates appeared for the entrance exam across the state.
The candidates who qualify for the NEET are only eligible for counselling process. These candidates must be citizens of India at 17 years of age as of 31.12.2023. They will have passed 10+2 with a recognized board. The Director of Medical Education (DME) is responsible for conducting the counselling and admission process for MBBS admission.
This year the counselling process will be conducted online for seats under 85% state quota and 100% private colleges. The counselling of the remaining 15% seats will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
It is usually carried out in 4 rounds (round 1, round 2, mop-up, and spot round). Spot round is conducted only if seats remain vacant after the first 3 rounds. Each round of counselling is a separate round, and the rules of each round are different. Once any round commences, the rules of that round will apply to all the candidates even if they are allotted/admitted in the previous rounds of counselling. Two spates counselling process is held, one for government quota and one for management quota.
The following are the top medical colleges –
1. Christian Medical College, Vellore
2. Madras Medical College & Government General Hospital, Chennai
