NEET 2024: 4 candidates from Gujarat bagged AIR Rank 1
Ahmedabad: Four candidates from Gujarat have emerged as the toppers securing first rank in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024 results released on Tuesday. According to the score list released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the four toppers have achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720 marks with 99.997129 percent in the NEET UG 2024 examination.
The toppers include Ved Patel, Kirti Sharma, Darsha Padadhar and Rishabh Shah who have marked a historic moment by securing All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the examination.

Hailing from Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, 18-year-old Ved Patel was inspired by his elder sister, a medical intern at NHL Medical College. When asked about where he will take admission, he told Indian Express, “If not AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), then Maulana Azad Medical College or else BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad."
Sharing his routine for preparation, he said “Other than the regular classes, I devoted 4-5 hours to self-study, and practiced the same day. Otherwise it adds to a backlog, which keeps piling up and hampers the preparation."
Hailing from Rajkot, 17-year-old Darsh Paghdar got inspiration from his father who is a practising homoeopath and his elder sister who is in her final year of MBBS at GMERS Medical College Gandhinagar. He desires to take admission in AIIMS Delhi and study medicine. He wants to be either a neurosurgeon or a cancer surgeon.
He told the daily, “As my father Dr Malay Paghdar is also a BHMS doctor and the elder sister is pursuing MBBS, the motivation came from within the family only. My mother too is in this field being a lab technician but she gave up her career for our studies."
Kriti Sharma, a student at Ryan School in Adajan, Surat, shared her study strategy, emphasizing the importance of daily revision and stress-free learning. She told Loktej "NEET is easy if you revise the subjects studied each day." Both of her parents are doctors, and her sister is in the final year of her MBBS.
Inspired by his uncle who is a doctor and sister, a physiotherapy graduate, Rishabh Shah from Ahmedabad, credits a disciplined study routine with timetables and regular mock tests for his success.
He told Ahmedabad Mirror, “I used to read 10-12 hours a day in the last two months and focused on weaker parts. AIIMS Delhi is my first choice."
NTA recently announced the NEET 2024 results in which a recorded-breaking 67 candidates have topped the MBBS entrance exam scoring a remarkable percentage. The candidates achieved their flawless score of 720 placing them as joint top performers. Among these exceptional scorers, 53 are male and 14 are female.
NEET-UG is the qualifying entrance exam for admission to Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), and Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) and BSc (H) Nursing courses.
