NEET 2025: Costliest MBBS college in Maharashtra sees 8.5 percent fee cut

Mumbai: The Fee Regulating Authority (FRA) in the State has slashed the MBBS fees at two private medical colleges.
These two colleges include Vedantaa Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Palghar, which is the State's most expensive medical college, and NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Science, Karjat. At VIMS Palghar, the fee panel has reduced the fees for MD MS (postgraduate) courses as well.
The decision in this regard was taken by the FRA in its meetings held on Tuesday and Wednesday. FRA has fixed the MBBS fees for 11 out of 24 private medical colleges in Maharashtra and PG (MD/MS) medical fees for five of these colleges.

During the meeting, the FRA decided the reduce the MBBS fees at VIMS Palghar by 8.57%. While previously, the fees for the MBBS course at this institute was Rs 17.03 lakh, the FRA has now slashed it to Rs 15.57 lakh.
VIMS Palghar is the only medical college in Maharashtra to be set up by a private limited company. Last year, the college had fixed the highest charges among all private medical colleges across the State. For this academic year, the MBBS course at VIMS continues to be the costliest one. However, it should be noted that several medical colleges have not finalised their fee structure yet.
Apart from VIMS Palghar, another medical college, where the MBBS fee has been reduced, is NY Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Science, Karjat (Raigad). This college saw an even higher Rs 1.67 lakh drop in its MBBS course fees. The MBBS fees at this institute have been reduced from Rs 7.9 lakh to Rs 6.22 lakh. Therefore, the MBBS fees at this institute have been reduced by the FRA by around 21%.
