NEET 2026: NTA warns over paper leak rumours, issues biometric verification advisory
New Delhi: Several posts are going viral on social media platforms claiming that the NEET UG 2026 question paper has been leaked even before the examination. Some messages even offer early access to the question paper in exchange for money, thereby heightening anxiety among students and parents across India.
In this regard, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that no paper leak has occurred in NEET UG 2026, and the examination will be conducted on May 3, 2026, strictly according to the scheduled timetable. The agency also stated that all question papers have been securely delivered under strict protocols.
This clarification was shared via a post on ‘X’. In this post, the NTA has ensured that all question papers and confidential materials have safely reached the last destination with the highest level of security. There is no possibility of paper leaks or early access. Any claims circulating on social media or Telegram channels about leaked papers are false and misleading. Please don’t fall for scams or unnecessary panic. NTA is proactively taking action against all such reports, it said.
“If you come across such rumors, report them to CyberCrime or NTA, so that action can be taken. Focus on what truly matters — your preparation. Stay calm, stay confident, and give your best. You’ve got this”, the post read.
Meanwhile, the agency has also confirmed that it is taking action against those responsible for spreading misinformation.
Additionally, NTA has also issued an important advisory regarding biometric verification exceptions for candidates appearing in NEET UG 2026. The public notice outlines procedures to be followed in case biometric authentication cannot be completed on the day of examination.
The NEET UG 2026 is scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026. The exam will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with extended time up to 6:00 PM for eligible PwD/PwBD candidates.
As per the notice, all candidates are required to undergo mandatory biometric verification after frisking and before entering the examination hall.
In cases where biometric verification fails due to device malfunction, poor biometric quality, connectivity issues with UIDAI, or physical inability of the candidate, such candidates will still be allowed to appear for the examination. In such situations, candidates must submit a written undertaking, the format of which will be provided at the examination centre, the notice read.
The agency further emphasized that candidates should not be disturbed during the examination hours for biometric processes.
