NEET counselling 2026: MCC opens seat resignation facility for round 1, 2 freeze float candidates

As per a notice issued in this regard on the MCC website, the facility is available to Freeze and Float candidates who had accepted and joined a Round 1 or Round 2 seat allotted through MCC counselling but now wish to resign or withdraw from that seat. For Float candidates, the facility applies to those who were not upgraded.

Candidates eligible for the facility can resign from their joined Round 1 or Round 2 seat till 6:00 PM today, i.e. September 18, 2026. However, MCC has made it clear that resignation during this window will be permitted with forfeiture of the security deposit.

The candidates should take note of the following instructions w.r.t Resignation-

1 The FREEZE candidates who want to resign/ withdraw from their seat will have to physically report at the allotted institute to RESIGN.

2 The FLOAT Candidates (not upgraded) are advised to ensure that they Resign / Withdraw their Round-1or Round-2 seat by logging into their account and generating a Seat Withdrawal slip online, failing which the resignation will be treated as ‘Null & Void’.

3 The resignation given within the stipulated time mentioned above will be with Forfeiture of the security deposit.

4 Candidates are advised to ensure that their Resignation Letter/ Seat Withdrawal slip is generated online through the portal provided by MCC, failing which the resignation will be treated as ‘Null & Void’.

5 Once Resigned/ Seat is withdrawn, the candidate will have no claim over the resigned seat.
