NEET counselling 2026: MCC opens seat resignation facility for round 1 float, freeze candidates, details
New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened the resignation/seat withdrawal facility for FLOAT and FREEZE candidates of Round 1 of the NEET UG Counselling for the academic year 2026-27.
The announcement was made through a notice issued by MCC under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The facility is specifically meant for FLOAT and FREEZE candidates who had earlier joined a Round 1 seat allotted through MCC counselling and did not upgrade in Round 2 (seat retained from Round 1), but now want to resign or withdraw from that seat.
According to the MCC notice, candidates who desire to resign/ withdrawn from their Round-1 joined seat can do so in online mode till 06:00 P.M of 15 September 2026 without Forfeiture of the security deposit.
For candidates reconsidering their Round 1 admission, the timeline is particularly important since the benefit of resignation without security deposit forfeiture is tied to completing the process within this prescribed window.
The candidates should take note of the following instructions w.r.t. resignation:
1 Round-1 FLOAT candidates (not upgraded) who want to resign are advised to ensure that they Resign / Withdraw their Round-1 seat by logging into their account and generating a Seat Withdrawal slip online.
For freeze candidates- Round-1 candidates who want to resign/ withdraw from their seat will have to physically report at the allotted institute to RESIGN.
2 The resignation given within the stipulated time mentioned above will be without Forfeiture of the security deposit. Any resignation beyond the above-mentioned stipulated time (after 6:00 P.M. on 15.09.2026) will be WITH Forfeiture of the security deposit.
3 Candidates are advised to ensure that their Resignation Letter/ Seat Withdrawal slip is generated online through the portal provided by MCC, failing which the resignation will be treated as ‘Null & Void’.
