New Delhi: While the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has commenced the registrations for the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025 counselling, the schedule for the counselling has not been released yet.

Amid this, the candidates, who appeared in the PG medical entrance examination more than two months ago, are still waiting for the commencement of the counselling sessions to get admitted to the MD/MS courses.

The PG medical entrance exam was conducted more than two months ago and the results were released on August 19, 2025, the counselling for NEET PG 2025 is yet to begin.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which is in charge of conducting the AIQ counselling, recently informed the States that the regulatory authority, the National Medical Commission (NMC), asked the committee to put the process on hold.

Officials at the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee had explained that two primary reasons are resulting in the delay in the NEET PG counselling- pending plea before the Apex Court and the delay on the part of the National Medical Commission (NMC) in finalizing and approving the addition of new medical colleges and increasing the MD/MS seats in the existing medical colleges for 2025-2026.

Amid the growing frustrations regarding the delay in NEET PG 2025 counselling, the Medical Counselling Committee yesterday commenced the registration process for Round 1 of PG Counselling 2025. MCC has also released the information Bulletin & counselling scheme for the candidates registering for the NEET PG 2025 counselling for the academic year 2025. The Information Bulletin & Counselling Scheme 2025 outlines key steps and mandatory requirements for successful registration and participation in the online counselling process.

However, the MCC has not yet released the counselling schedule for NEET PG 2025, and the pending plea seeking transparency in the NEET PG 2025 exam is contributing towards this delay.

Careers360 has reported that earlier, the hearings before the Supreme Court in September were adjourned, and the matter has now been listed for further hearing on October 28, 2025. Meanwhile, States including Telangana, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu have begun preparing for the state-quota counselling independently.

A section of the doctors has expressed relief at the commencement of NEET PG counselling. However, the candidates are still awaiting the official schedule for the counselling.

"Finally, after nearly two months of waiting since the NEET-PG results were announced, the MCC has started the NEET-PG 2025 counselling registration process. While the information bulletin for NEET PG 2025 counselling has been released, the detailed counselling schedule is yet to be announced," read an X post by medicopenia_155.

Dr Sumit K. wrote on X, "Thanks to @FAIMA_INDIA_ @DrRohanKrishna3, NEET PG 2025 registration finally began, but still no counselling schedule in sight. We will continue to raise our voice again and again against the chaos & mismanagement in NEET UG/PG/SS counselling caused by NMC."

Recently, the Chairperson of United Doctors Front (UDF), Dr. Lakshya Mittal had indicated the possibility of commencement of NEET PG counselling registration after speaking with Health Ministry officials. He wrote on X, "As promised, #NEETPG2025 #Counselling begins. Candidates are advised to carefully go through the Information Bulletin for NEET PG Counselling 2025 before proceeding with the registration process."
