NEET PG 2026 aspirants seek application deadline extension over technical glitches: Report

New Delhi: The registration window for the NEET PG 2026 is now closed, as it ended on July 21 at 11.55 pm. However, several candidates have reportedly sought an extension of the registration deadline, claiming that technical issues and a short time period have prevented them from submitting the application on time.

While the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) application window generally opens around April, registrations for the 2026 session started on July 1, leaving aspirants with only 20 days to complete the application process.

Shiksha reported that several applicants also reported difficulties while uploading mandatory passport-size photographs and signatures. They claimed that even after reducing image sizes to perfectly match the NBE NEET PG image guidelines, the application portal repeatedly displayed errors or froze during the document upload stage. As a result, many said they were unable to reach the final fee payment step.

Candidates further stated that the new structural transformation has made it slightly difficult for students to fill the application form.

These changes include mandatory Aadhaar authentication, which is a newly introduced real-time Aadhaar verification that created a mismatch of biometric data for many students.

The board also replaced the test state allocation policy. Instead of selecting individual test cities on a first-come, first-served basis, candidates now have to rank state preferences.

Candidates also claimed that heavy traffic on the portal during the 20-day registration period led to frequent server slowdowns and application failures.

With the registration window now closed, candidates have urged NBEMS to reopen or extend the application process. As of now, NBEMS has not announced any extension or reopening of the registration window.
