NEET PG counselling 2025: MCC allows candidates to resign round 1, 2 seats with security deposit forfeiture

New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an official notice allowing postgraduate medical candidates to resign from their Round 1 and Round 2 seats allotted through MCC, following multiple requests received from candidates.
The decision has been taken in the larger interest of students to ensure optimal utilisation of seats in the upcoming counselling round.
As per the notice dated 12 January 2026, in the larger interest of candidates, the competent authority has decided to provide facility of resignation to such candidates from 05:00 P.M of 12.01.2026 to 05:00 P.M of 15.01.2026 with forfeiture of the security deposit. The seats so vacated will be added to the seat matrix of Round 3 so that they are available to participating candidates for choice filling in Round 3
Hence, candidates during the above-mentioned stipulated time can exit from their Round 1 or Round 2 seats allotted through MCC with ‘Forfeiture of Security Deposit
Candidates will have to physically report to the college for resignation. Also, are advised to ensure that their Resignation Letter is generated online (through portal provided by MCC) by the allotted college, failing which the resignation will be treated as “ Null & Void”.
In an official notice issued by the MCC in this regard, addressed to State Directors of Medical Education (DMEs), Vice Chancellors, and Secretaries (Medical Education) of all States, the MCC mentioned that the counselling schedule for Round 3 will be uploaded after receiving approval of the revised percentile eligibility for participation in PG Counselling 2025 from the competent authority.
