NEET PG counselling 2025: WB DME permits fresh registration for candidates who selected NRI by mistake

Kolkata: In a much-needed relief for several postgraduate medical aspirants, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) West Bengal, has issued an notice allowing candidates to correct a critical mistake made during the NEET PG 2025 counselling registration.
Many candidates had reportedly selected the NRI category by mistake while filling out the online form—an error that could have jeopardized their entire admission process. Taking note of their concerns, the DME has now officially permitted a one-time correction facility.
As per the notice, aspirants who registered as NRI by accident must send a signed PDF request letter—and they must send it from the same email ID used in their NEET application. The request has to be emailed to their email address
Once the request is accepted, candidates will be allowed to:
♦ Reset their registration
♦ Re-enter their details correctly
♦ Pay the counselling fee again
♦ Download a fresh profile letter
♦ Report for verification in the next applicable round
The correction won’t be available indefinitely. The DME has made it clear that the facility can be used only during the admission dates of the round in which the mistake was detected.
Furthermore, this relaxation will not be available in the Stray Vacancy Round—meaning those who miss the correction window will not be able to fix the issue at a later stage.
"In view of representations received and after careful considerations, it has been decided that due to inadvertent mistake, the candidates who had registered themselves as NRI candidates, during the process of online registration of the scheduled dates of registrations as published in the counseling website, have to mail a request letter (mail is accepted only from the designated mail id as mentioned in NEET exam in a signed pdf format only in wbnricounseling2025@gmail.com) addressing to The Director of Medical Education, Swasthya Bhavan, with a request to allow for initialization of the registration details submitted earlier, so that the candidate can freshly re-submit the candidate details, can pay the counseling fees afresh and can download the candidate profile letter for allotment of verification centre, which is applicable from the next round only. Needless to mention that this facility is not available in the Stray Vacancy round or any round later (if any) of counseling. Such request mail is accepted only on the dates of admission process of the concerned Round in which such inadvertent mistake was done by the candidate himself/herself," the notice read
