NEET PG, NEET MDS Counselling 2023: MCC releases schedule for special stray vacancy round to fill leftover seats, all details here
Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the schedule for the Special Stray Vacancy Round of NEET PG and NEET MDS Counselling for 50% AIQ and 100% Deemed/Central Universities/AFMS/PG DNB Seats for MD, MS, PG Diploma, DNB and MDS courses.
To prevent the wastage of precious medical seats, MoHFW has decided to conduct a Special Stray Vacancy Round for the vacant MD/ MS/ Diploma/ MDS Seats of AIQ and State Quota. This Special Stray Vacancy Round will be the last round for Postgraduate courses for this academic year i.e, 2023.
The counselling process is divided into central and state counselling. The central counselling process will begin on 17th Nov 2023. Whereas the state counseling will begin from 25th Nov., 2023. The last date to join both counselling processes is 30th November 2023.
State Counselling authorities are directed to conduct the seat processing for the Special Stray Vacancy Round of states after weeding out of candidates ALLOTTED in the Special Stray Vacancy Round of MCC.
Candidates already holding a seat/ joined through AIQ or State counselling, including private/Deemed quota seats, are not eligible to participate in the Special Stray Vacancy Round of MCC.
Detailed schedule –
Central counseling -
The fresh registration process can be carried out from 17th Nov to 22nd Nov. 2023 (up to 12:00 Noon of 22.11.2023 as per the server timing). The payment of the fee can be done till 03:00 PM of 22nd Nov. 2023 (as per Server timing). The process of registration and payment of fees will be carried out for 6 days.
The process of choice filling & choice locking can be carried out from 18th Nov., 2023, to 22nd Nov., 2023. Choice locking will be available from 04:00 P.M of 22.11.2023 up to 11:59 P.M of 22nd Nov. 2023. The candidates are given 5 days to complete the choice-filling and choice-locking process.
The process of seat allotment will be carried out for 2 days. The processing will be done from 23rd Nov. 2023 to 24th Nov. 2023. On 24th Nov. 2023, the results will be published. The reporting at the allotted college can be done from 25th Nov. 2023 to 30th Nov. 2023 (up to 05:00 PM as per the Server timing). For this round, the candidates have been granted 6 days to carry out the reporting process.
State Counselling –
The state counseling will be carried out from 25th Nov. 2023 to 28th Nov. 2023. The last date of joining will be 30th Nov., 2023. Sharing of joined candidates data by MCC for weeding out by states must be done on 25th Nov. 2023.
Details issued –
Candidates who are not holding any seat either in the All India Quota or State Quota are eligible to participate in the special stray vacancy round. However, candidates who did not join their seats allotted through MCC Round-3 onwards are ‘Not Eligible’ to participate.
It may also be noted that the special stray vacancy round is not an up-gradation round. Joined candidates of earlier rounds will not be given the chance of upgradation.
The Security Deposit of candidates who do not join their allotted seat in the special stray vacancy round will be forfeited, and such candidates will be debarred from taking the NEET exam for the next year.
The data of ALLOTTED CANDIDATES of special stray vacancy round conducted by MCC will be shared with states, and candidates who are allotted seats by MCC will be debarred from taking admission in state counseling.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Supreme Court had issued a notice on the plea filed by private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu seeking a stray counselling round to fill up the vacant postgraduate medical seats.
