NEET SS 2025: MCC announces special stray vacancy round counselling schedule, registrations from September 25
New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the Special Stray Vacancy Round for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Super Speciality (NEET SS) Counselling for the academic year 2025, giving eligible candidates another opportunity to secure vacant seats in DM, MCh and DNBSS courses.
The special counselling round comes after the NEET SS qualifying percentile was reduced from the existing 50th percentile to the 30th percentile recently.
"In compliance to the order dated 17th September, 2026 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in W.P (Civil) No. 771 of 2026 Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association & Anr Vs. Union of India & Ors. a Special Stray Vacancy Round is being conducted after reduction of percentile from the existing 50th percentile to 30th percentile as per following schedule," the notice said
According to the MCC schedule, the counselling process will begin with participating institutes verifying the seat matrix today, i.e. September 24, 2026.
Candidates can register for the Special Stray Vacancy Round from tomorrow i.e. September 25 to September 28, 2026. The registration facility will close at 3 pm on September 28, while candidates will be able to make the required payment until 6 pm on the same day, as per server time.
Candidates will also be able to submit their choices from September 25 until 12 noon on September 29. The choice-locking facility will open at 8 pm on September 28 and close at 12 noon on September 29, 2026. Below is the detailed schedule-
