NMC approves 180 MBBS seats in 3 medical colleges, NTRUHS issues notice on free exit

Andhra Pradesh- Through a notification, the Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr NTRUHS) has informed the Reported/ and Joined candidates of Phase I who are willing to exit from the reported seat about the deadlines.
The candidates can exit their seats on or before 04.00 PM on 21 September 2025 and shall submit their requests to the Principal concerned for admission into the MBBS Course under Competent Authority Quota Seats for the academic year 2025-26.
Such candidates will not be eligible for further rounds of Competent Authority Quota counselling. However, such candidates can join in MQ Phase-I of Dr NTR UHS, Vijayawada, if a seat is allotted, the notice added.
In addition, those candidates who have resigned from the Phase-I reported/joined seat before the said date will be considered as not reported/not joined and such vacated seats will be filled in Phase-II counselling as per rules.
After the said date, all Phase-I reported/joined candidates will be considered as a part of Phase-II and the Phase-II rules will apply to them as applicable for Phase-II of counselling as per the procedure notified.
Phase-I Reported candidates who have not opted to exit from the Phase-I reported seat will be considered for Phase-II of counselling for upgradation/sliding as per the one-time options already exercised and will be considered as a part of Phase-II and the same rules will apply to them as applicable for Phase-II of counselling as per the procedure notified.
Meanwhile, the notice further informed that the National Medical Commission (NMC), New Delhi, has granted permissions for the enhancement of MBBS seats and one new Medical college. The details are as follows-

Therefore, in view of the above, candidates are advised to take an informed/calculated decision before availing the “Free Exit” facility under this notice, as the candidate who avails Free Exit will not be eligible for further phase (s) of counselling under Competent Authority Quota, 2025-26.
With this, the Principals shall accept the Free EXIT requests from the candidates in the enclosed format and shall return original certificates and the entire Tuition fee and other fees, if any, to the candidates immediately and freeze the latest data by 04:00 PM on 21 September 2025. Thereafter, no candidate will be permitted to withdraw from the joined under Phase-I Counselling.
DISCONTINUATION FROM THE COURSE
1 Reported Candidates who have not utilised the free exit facility as per the schedule cannot resign the seat during the course of admissions, i.e., from Phase-III counselling till the closure of admissions.
2 As already notified, “Once a candidate secures admission to a particular college/course based on his / her option in the 1st counselling, such candidate shall be allowed for sliding for admission into another college/course in the 2nd counselling. No more claims to admission into other colleges/courses will be entertained after the 2nd counselling during that academic year”.
