PhD Admission July 2023 Session: AIIMS Bhopal Starts registration Process, Apply Till 22nd June

Bhopal: The application process for admission to PhD Program July 2023 Session has started for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS Bhopal).

The application form along with prescribed fees must be submitted by Speed Post/by Hand latest by 22nd June 2023 up to 5:00 PM in the Office of Registrar, Academic Block, AIIMS Bhopal, Saket Nagar, Bhopal (MP) - 462020.

Application fees –

1. For General /OBC/EWS candidates Rs. 1000

2. For SC/ST/PwBD/Women Candidate – Nil

Fees are to be paid by Demand Draft only in favour of “Director AIIMS Bhopal” payable at Bhopal. The fee once remitted will not be refunded in any circumstance. Inadequately filled / incomplete applications may be summarily rejected

Submission of application by candidates who are employed –

The candidates in employment applying for PhD Programs are required to submit their applications through the proper channel. They should also sign the undertaking in the downloaded copy of the Registration Form that they have informed their employer about the submission of the application to AIIMS. If any communication is received from their department/office withholding permission for the candidate's appear at the entrance examination/admission to the course, the candidature/admission of the candidate will be cancelled.

Requirements for admission of "sponsored" candidates -

1. Candidates who are permanent employees of any Central/State Government/Armed Forces or the Public Sector Undertaking/Autonomous Body can be sponsored by the respective Government/Defence Authorities or the Competent Authorities of the PSU/Autonomous Body.

2. The code for which the candidate is being sponsored should be clearly specified in the sponsorship form by the sponsoring authority. The candidate can be sponsored for only one code. The applications of those candidates who are sponsored for more than one subject will not be considered.

3. No "Sponsored" candidate will be paid any emoluments by the Institute during the training period. Such payments will be the responsibility of the sponsoring authority (i.e. Central/State Government or Defence Authorities).

4. Sponsored candidates must submit/send sponsorship certificates in original to the Office of Registrar from their employers in the prescribed format along with the application form. Those who fail to do so should submit it before the date of the entrance Exam failing which their candidature will be cancelled.

5. The Sponsored candidate registering for PhD program at AIIMS Bhopal, it is mandatory to be a full-time Research Scholar during the first year of PhD program by availing of Study/any other leave for a continuous period of One year.

Admission to PhD course will be done under the following categories -

1. Category A = Fellowship stipend available in the Project.

2. Category B = Own Fellowship/sponsored candidates/in-service candidates.

Eligibility –

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

Medical Qualification: MBBS/BDS/MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch/BAMS/BYMS/BHMS/DNB in the subject concerned.

Nursing Qualification: Candidates with M.Sc Nursing qualifications recognized by Indian Nursing Council can apply.

Non- Medical Qualification -

1. Life Sciences Qualification: eligibility shall be a Master’s Degree (two years course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject

2. Non-Life Sciences:- Candidates with qualifications in non-life sciences subjects (M.Sc, M.Pharma, B.Tech) can apply

Candidates who have obtained any of these degrees from medical colleges which are not recognized by the Medical Council of India/National Medical Commission shall not be eligible to apply.

Candidates possessing a Master’s Degree through distance learning courses shall not be eligible.

Candidate should have at least 55% marks in the last eligibility examination qualified.

Candidates working under Central Govt./Semi Govt./Autonomous organization should submit their applications through the proper channel i.e. employer. They will be required to submit a ‘No Objection Certificate” from their employer along with the application form before they are allowed to appear for the selection process of the PhD. Courses.

The candidates must have completed the requisite qualification and degree on or before the closing date of application.

Applicants from AIIMS Faculty/Scientific Staff for PhD registration will be considered in-service candidates as per guidelines laid down by AIIMS in this regard.

Duration of the Course -

1. The duration of the course shall be the time period from registration to submission of the thesis. The minimum period of registration in respect of all the candidates who are registered for PhD shall be three years. The maximum period of registration shall not exceed five years. Extension beyond the period of 5 years can be given for a maximum period of 6 months on the recommendation of the Dean (Academics) and final approval by the Director

2. Further extension of six months beyond 5 ½ years can only be given by the Academic Committee for a maximum period of 6 months in highly exceptional circumstances (like medical exigencies, natural calamities etc.) and such extension may not be given retrospectively.

3. The Chief Guide of PhD, the student shall give a clear reason for the delay to the Doctoral Committee.

4. In case of extension beyond 5 ½ years without justifiable reasons and circumstances as mentioned above, the PhD registration of the candidate shall be cancelled.

5. Failure to submit the thesis within the stipulated time period of maximum 5yrs. with extension after approval up to 5½ years (6 years in exceptional circumstances by prior approval of the Doctoral Committee) shall lead to cancellation of PhD registration of the candidate.

Seat Details -

There are two types of seats available as

1. Category A = Fellowship stipend available in the Project (minimum 12 months)

2. Category B = Own Fellowship or sponsored candidates/in-service candidates

The stipend shall be paid for a minimum of 12 months as mentioned against each Project. Candidates are allowed to apply for JRF fellowship after joining PhD at AIIMS Bhopal and can avail of the fellowship if awarded.

Details related to each category are enclosed in the notice below. For Category B candidates are allowed to submit applications for five departments' code numbers only in order of preference. Merit list will be prepared for category A and category B candidates separately

All fees and dues payable at the time of admission by the candidates. The candidates will have to pay the Hostel Security deposit (refundable) i.e. Rs. 1000. Fees and other charges including hostel rent once paid shall not be refunded in any case and no correspondence will be entertained in this connection. However, the caution money will be refunded to those candidates who do not join the course. The caution money must be claimed within one year after completion of the course failing which it will be forfeited.
