New Delhi: NEET 2025 - the gateway to MBBS, dental and UG AYUSH admissions will be conducted on May 4, 2025. For candidates appearing for NEET UG And UG Ayush, NTA has also released an information bulletin detailing the Exam Scheme along with other details.Lets check out the details for the examination scheume

Examination Scheme

Syllabus of the Test

NMC (National Medical Commission) has notified the syllabus of NEET (UG) - 2025. The Question Paper will be based on the given syllabus (Appendix-III) which is available on the NMC website

Pattern of the Test

The Test pattern of NEET (UG) - 2025 comprises Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology). Candidates are hereby informed that starting from NEET (UG)-2025 will revert back to pre-COVID pattern vide public notice dated 25.01.2025. The question paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions which must be attempted by the candidates in 180 minutes. These changes have been incorporated in the NEET (UG)-2025 test pattern. (Authority:- Vide DO letter no. 14023/19/2023/UGMEB)

The pattern for the NEET (UG) - 2025 examination for admission in the Session 2025-26 is as follows:

Important Points to Note:

To answer a question, the candidates need to choose one option corresponding to the correct answer or the most appropriate answer. Marking will be done as per following criteria:

(i) Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Four marks (+4)

(ii) Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).

(iii) Unanswered: No mark (0).

While every effort will be made to ensure that each question has one unique answer, in case, it is found that a question has more than one option, it will be dealt in following manner:

(i) If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.

(ii) If all options are found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.

(iii) If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped then all candidates who have appeared will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

Mode of Examination

Candidates are hereby informed that NEET (UG) – 2025 will be Single day single exam in PEN and PAPER mode as was conducted in last year 2024. (Vide D.O. No. NMC/Secy (2025)/01).

Duration of Test

The duration of the test would be three (03) hours. Compensatory time of one hour for examination of three hours (03:00 hrs) duration for PwBD Candidate [having a physical limitation to write] will be given, whether such candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not.

A candidate with one of the benchmark disabilities [as defined in Section 2(r) of RPwD Act, 2016], holding a Disability Certificate in the format prescribed in Annexure-V and I, is entitled to the following facilities:

a) The facility of Scribe, in case he/she has a physical limitation, and a scribe is essential to write the Examination on his/her behalf, being so certified in the aforesaid format by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Govt. Health Care Institution. A candidate who uses his own scribe is required to give an undertaking in the format given at Annexure-III.

b) Compensatory time of one hour for Examination of three hours duration, whether such candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not. A candidate with disability [as defined in Section 2(s) of RPwD Act, 2016], having certificate of limitation to write in the format prescribed in Annexure IV, will be entitled for facility of scribe and/or compensatory time.

Medium of the Question Papers

Drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the NEET (UG) -2025 is being conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

Candidates can opt for a Question Paper in any one of the following 13 languages:

English Hindi Assamese Bengali Gujarati Malayalam Kannada
Marathi Odia Tamil Telugu Urdu Punjabi

Option of medium of Question Paper should be carefully chosen while filling in the Application Form. The option once chosen cannot be changed.

Candidates opting for English would be provided Test Booklet in in English only.

Candidates opting for Hindi would be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in English and Hindi.

Candidates opting for Regional Languages would be provided Test Booklet in English + selected Regional Language.

For Example: If a candidate opted Tamil (out of 13 languages), the Test Booklet would be provided in English + Tamil.

In case of any ambiguity in the translation of a question in the test, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.

Candidates qualifying for NEET (UG) – 2025 would be eligible for All India Quota and other quotas under the State Governments/Institutes, irrespective of the medium of the examination, subject to other eligibility criteria.

11 English, Hindi and Tamil Examination Centres in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands
12 English, Hindi and Telugu Examination Centres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
13 English, Hindi and Urdu All Examination Centres in India

The option of language for Question Paper should be exercised while filling up the Application Form online and it cannot be changed at a later stage. Please note that for the correctness of the questions in all the question papers, the English version will be taken as final.
