TN Health Invites Applications For MBBS, BDS admissions 2023, Check out schedule, eligibility criteria, fees, seats, counselling details here
Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Health (TN Health) has invited online applications for admission to MBBS and BDS degree courses in Government Medical / Dental Colleges, Government Quota Seats In Self Financing Medical / Dental Colleges, ESIC Medical College, K.K.Nagar, Chennai Affiliated To The Tamil Nadu DR.M.G.R. Medical University 2023-2024 session.

The candidates must go to the website http://www.tnmedialselection.org/ and click on the link “Apply Online for MBBS_BDS application 2023-2024. There will be a separate application form for Government and Management Quota. They should submit their filled-in online application form after uploading the details in the required fields.
The cost of the application form is Rs.500 (non-refundable) and should be paid through the online Bank payment portal on the websites. The candidates applying under the Special category for Eminent Sports Persons and Children of Ex-Sevicemen should pay an additional fee of Rs.100 (non-refundable) for each special category via the Bank payment portal. All Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyar) / Scheduled Tribe candidates of Tamil Nadu native are exempted from payment of the cost of the application.
Candidates should fill up all mandatory columns, upload all required documents and submit the duly filled-in online application. The candidates may download their filled-in online application form and secure a copy of the same for their future reference.

Admission under State quota seats will also include admission on a preferential basis (7.5 percent) as per the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Indian Medicine and Homeopathy on preferential basis to students of Government Schools Act, 2020 (Tamil Nadu Act No.34 of 2020).
Candidates who seek admission under preferential admission of 7.5% of seats under Government School Quota in MBBS/BDS courses should obtain and upload a bonafide certificate from the school last studied from the Headmaster/Headmistress and countersigned by the Chief Education Officer in the prescribed format for their studying 6th standard to 12th standard.
Candidates who seek admission under preferential admission of 7.5% of seats under Government School Quota in MBBS/BDS courses should obtain and upload a bonafide certificate from the school last studied from the Headmaster/Headmistress and countersigned by the Chief Education Officer in the prescribed format for their studying 6th standard to 12th standard.
In case candidates come under clause (h) above and have studied in more than one Government school, they should produce the bonafide certificate from the current/last studied school covering the details of the schools studied earlier also.
If seats are vacant in any category after the exhaustion of the merit list (From that specific category), those seats will be converted to the general category in the subsequent round.
Instruction for the special category – (PwD, Sports, and Ex-Servicemen) –
1. The candidates applying under Special categories, viz., Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and Children of Ex-servicemen, are instructed to submit their application in online only.
2. For, Eminent Sports persons are instructed to submit their application both in online and offline mode and submit the downloaded filled-in online application along with two sets of enclosures on or before 10.07.2023 in person only. The detailed address is enclosed in the notice below.
3. Candidates seeking admission under Special Category – Persons with Benchmark Disabilities should submit a separate Special Category Form, which is in Annexure V, and enclose the relevant certificates and Medical Certificate issued by the Regional Medical Board – Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai of their online application. If the photocopy of the Regional Medical Board Certificates is not enclosed, then the application will be considered under General Category only if he/she fulfills the norms for the General Category.
4. Candidates seeking admission for MBBS / BDS Degree Courses under Special Category – Children of Ex-Servicemen should submit a separate Special Category, which is in Annexure VI, along with the filled-in online application form in the prescribed format provided in the Prospectus and should enclose the relevant certificates for consideration under the Special Category and an additional fee of Rs.100/- via Bank payment portal.
5. Candidates seeking admission under Sports Quota shall submit the separate Special Category Form, which is in Annexure VII (a) & (b), along with the filled-in online application form in the prescribed format and an additional fee of Rs.100/- via Bank payment portal.
6. Special Category rank differs completely from that of the General Category rank.
7. Special Category candidates cannot claim the same rank in the General Category and vice versa.

Documents of Parents need to be uploaded for the candidates who claim their native as Tamil Nadu as follows -
1. Community Certificate of either one of the parents obtained from the competent Revenue Authority in Tamil Nadu (Who claims communal reservation)
2. Special Category Form with relevant certificates for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, Eminent Sports Persons, and Ex-Servicemen, as applicable, along with the online application form, should be uploaded
Bonafide Certificate from Chief Education Officer is mandatory for candidates who have studied VI Std. to XII Std in Tamil Nadu Government School for 7.5% Special Reservation as mentioned in Annexure -II
Income Certificate of the parent for the candidates claiming fee exemption
Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai, for the candidates of other Universities / Boards (except State Board& CBSE Board)

Age limit –
The candidates should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should complete 17 years on or before 31st December of this year, 2023.
General eligibility criteria –
1. Candidates should be Natives of Tamil Nadu.
2. The candidates who claim their Nativity as Tamil Nadu should submit their nativity certificate issued by the competent authority of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Nativity Certificate submitted after the deadline will be summarily rejected.
3. Candidates belonging to other States and residing in Tamil Nadu cannot claim the nativity of Tamil Nadu.
4. Candidate who has appeared for NEET UG – 2023 as a native of another State cannot apply as a native of Tamil Nadu.
5. Permanent Residence Certificate in lieu of a Nativity Certificate will not be accepted.
6. Nativity Certificate submitted with the application alone will be accepted, and sending the Nativity Certificate separately will not be entertained.
7. Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu and have studied from Standard VI to Standard XII in schools of Tamil Nadu should also produce Nativity Certificate and Community Certificate issued by the competent authority. The Community Certificate of either one of the parents obtained from the competent Revenue Authority of the Government of Tamil Nadu should be enclosed to claim Communal Reservation.
8. If candidates do not submit the above-mentioned certificates and even if he/she had studied Standard VI to Standard XII completely in Tamil Nadu, the candidate will be considered under Open Category only.
9. Candidates who are Native of Tamil Nadu but have studied from VI Standard to XII Standard outside Tamil Nadu either partly or completely in one or more States should produce the Nativity Certificate and Community Certificate issued by the competent authority. The Community Certificate of either one of the parents obtained from the competent Revenue Authority of the Government of Tamil Nadu should be enclosed to claim Communal Reservation.
10. Such candidates applying in the category 5(h) of this prospectus should also give an undertaking that they have not applied for any Educational Institution in any other State, claiming the nativity of such State for admission. If it is found later that the candidate has applied as a native of any other State other than Tamil Nadu, then the admission will be canceled at any stage. Further, even during the course of the study if it is subsequently found that any candidate has produced a false nativity certificate or given a false undertaking, it will result in the expulsion of the candidate from the course and also the initiation of criminal proceedings against the candidate as well as his/her parents as per provision of the law.
11. Candidates who are natives of other States but studied their schooling from VI Std to XII Std, continuously Tamil Nadu, have to produce their School Bonafide Certificate from School in which he/she studied Std VI to XII to be considered under the Open Category.
12. Community Certificates of the candidates or either one of his/her parents obtained from other States will not be considered for reservation.
Qualifying criteria –
The National Testing Agency will prepare an All India Merit List of successful candidates of NEET (UG) – 2023 on the basis of the eligibility criteria provided by the National Medical Commission (erstwhile Medical Council of India) and Dental Council of India as given in erstwhile Graduate Medical Education Regulations - 1997 issued under Indian Medical Council Act - 1956 and BDS Course Regulations, 2007 issued under the Dentists Act, 1948).
The eligibility criteria are as follows –
1. Admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses for academic session (2023-24) shall be based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET–UG 2023).
2. In order to become eligible for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for the candidate to obtain a minimum of marks at the 50th percentile in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to MBBS / BDS Courses held for the said academic year.
3. However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at the 40th percentile.
4. With respect to candidates with Bench Mark Disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the minimum marks shall be at the 45th percentile for unreserved category candidates and the 40th percentile for SC/ST / OBC candidates.
5. To be eligible for admission to the MBBS / BDS Courses, a candidate must have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Botany/ Zoology / Biology / Bio-technology at the Qualifying Examination.
6. In respect of the candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and OBC categories, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology taken in qualifying examinations and competitive examinations (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) must be 40% marks instead of 50%.
7. With respect to candidates with Bench Mark Disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the minimum marks in qualifying examinations in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Bio-Technology taken together must be 45% instead of 50% for Unreserved category candidates and 40% for SC / ST / OBC candidates.
8. The candidates of other Boards / Universities / Countries (except State Board/CBSEBoard/ICSE ) who wish to take up an MBBS / BDS seat in the State of Tamil Nadu should submit the Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai, at the time of admission of filled in the online application.
Non-eligibility criteria –
1. The candidates who are natives of other States and studied their schooling from VI to XII in other States either wholly or in part are not eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS course.
2. If the candidates of other Universities / Boards (except State Board / CBSE/ ICSE) do not submit the Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai, then their application will be summarily rejected.
3. Candidates presently pursuing the MBBS course in Tamil Nadu or in other States of India or other countries are not eligible to apply for the MBBS Course once again.
4. Candidates presently pursuing the BDS course in Tamil Nadu or in other States of India or other countries are not eligible to apply for the BDS Course again.
Duration of the courses -
1. MBBS - 5½ years, including one year of Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship.
2. BDS - 5 years, including a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship
Rank list –
The rank List of the candidates (Common Rank List) shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG 2023) for MBBS / BDS Degree Courses for the academic year 2023-2024.
Separate rank lists for candidates under Special Category shall be prepared for MBBS / BDS Degree Courses for the academic year 2023-2024 for -
1. Special Categories (Children of Ex-servicemen, Persons with Benchmark Disability, and Eminent Sports Person)
2. 7.5% Government School Category (candidates seeking admission under the Tamil Nadu Admission to Undergraduate Courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Indian Medicine, and Homeopathy on a preferential basis to students of Government Schools Act, 2020 - Tamil Nadu Act No.34 of 2020)
Method of selection and admission –
1. The admission shall be made on the basis of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test NEET-UG 2023 score for MBBS / BDS Degree Courses for the year 2023- 2024 through the Single Window system following the rule of reservation for the State Quota seats in Government Medical / Dental Colleges, Government Quota seats in Self Financing Private Medical / Dental Colleges and ESIC Medical College, K.K.Nagar, Chennai affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.
2. Merely appearing and qualifying in NEET (UG) – 2023 does not confer any right to the candidate for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses. The selection and admission to MBBS / BDS course in any Medical Institution recognized for MBBS / BDS Courses is subject to fulfilling the admission criteria, eligibility, rank in the merit list, medical fitness, and such other criteria as may be prescribed by the Government of India, Government of Tamilnadu and TN DR.M.G.R. Medical University.
3. Candidate’s eligibility for MBBS / BDS Courses is purely provisional and is subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu as applicable.
4. The Government Orders issued and to be issued from time to time pertaining to any of the matters contained in this prospectus should be read as part and parcel of this Prospectus, and such terms and conditions in the Government Order are deemed to have been incorporated in this Prospectus.
Rounds of online counseling –
There are four rounds of counseling -
1. Round 1

3. Mop up Round
4. Stray Round

Counseling details -
1. Counselling schedule will be made available on the official websites.
2. Candidates should participate in the counseling session as per their rank and schedule.
3. Candidates can choose a course at any college and exercise their options as per their eligibility norms mentioned in this prospectus.
4. Rules will apply as applicable for the Government quota seats as per the prevalent National Medical Commission / Dental Council of India, rules and regulations, State Policy, and the relevant rules of Institutions applicable to the Government quota seats of Self Financing Medical / Dental Institutions and the orders of the Hon’ble Court wherever applicable.
5. Individual intimations will not be sent to the candidates regarding counseling. The candidates are therefore advised to check the official websites frequently till the end of counseling.
6. Mutual transfer / Individual request for transfer to a College/Course will not be permitted under any circumstances
