TN NEET Counselling 2026 round 1 registrations, choice filling to end on August 19

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu's Round 1 counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic session is set to close shortly, with candidates having time until August 19, 2026, at 5 PM to complete registration, fee payment, choice filling and choice locking.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Tamil Nadu, had earlier released the Round 1 online counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic session.

The counselling covers seats in Tamil Nadu Government Medical and Dental Colleges, ESIC Medical College, KK Nagar, Government and Management quota seats, including NRI and Minority seats in self-financing medical and dental colleges, State Private Universities, Christian Medical College, Vellore, and seats for wards of IRT candidates.

For the Government Quota, candidates from General Rank 1 to 35,926, corresponding to the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) marks from 705 to 177, are eligible to participate. For the Management Quota, candidates from General Rank 1 to 26,956, with NEET UG marks ranging from 693 to 177, can take part in the counselling process.

As per the schedule, registration, fee payment, choice filling and choice locking started on August 13, 2026, at 12 noon and will continue till August 19, 2026, up to 5:00 PM. The seat allotment process will be carried out on August 20, 2026, while the Round 1 result will be published on August 21, 2026.

Candidates allotted seats can download their provisional allotment order from August 22 to August 28, 2026, up to 12 noon. The reporting and joining window will remain open from August 23 to August 28, 2026, until 5:00 PM. Below is the detailed schedule-

FEES

Candidates participating in the online counselling have to pay a non-refundable registration fee of Rs 500 for Government Quota and Rs 1,000 for Management Quota.

For Government Quota counselling, no security deposit is required for seats in Government Medical Colleges and Government Dental Colleges. However, candidates opting for Government Quota seats in self-financing medical and dental colleges and State Private Universities must pay a refundable security deposit of Rs 30,000.

For Management Quota, including Minority and NRI category seats in self-financing medical and dental colleges and State Private Universities, the refundable security deposit has been fixed at Rs 1 lakh.

The committee has also stated that SC, SCA, ST and Scheduled Caste candidates converted to Christianity (SCC) are exempted from the security deposit if their annual family income is below Rs 2.5 lakh.

CHOICE FILLING

Candidates will have the option of choice filling for all the seats for which they have applied. For example, if a candidate has applied for both Government and management quota, he will have choices for both Government as well as Management quota. The candidates are encouraged to analyse all the choices available and fill their choices in order of their preference.

Candidates should be careful while filling choices. All candidates should read the Prospectus thoroughly before starting choice filling. Candidates can edit their choices any number of times before locking, but once locked, they will not be allowed to edit. Hence, candidates are requested to check their choices and the order of preference before locking.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING ALLOTMENT ORDER

1 The candidate, if allotted a seat (for MBBS seats in all colleges under all categories and BDS seats in Government Dental Colleges) he/she has to pay the Tuition Fee for downloading the Provisional allotment order through online via Debit Card / Credit Card/Net Banking.

2 The candidate, if allotted a BDS seat in Self Financing Dental Colleges, he/she has to pay the Tuition Fee at the time of admission to the colleges directly.

3 The fee structure is available on the official website of TN Health.

4 All candidates should make sure that sufficient funds are available in their bank account with an expanded credit limit while remitting their Tuition Fee.

5 The allotted candidates should download their provisional allotment order and join the course in the concerned Medical College/Institution on or before the stipulated date and time as mentioned in the Provisional Allotment Order.

REPORTING TO ALLOTTED COLLEGE

1 The Certificate Verification will be done in the selected colleges themselves.

2 The candidates should produce their original certificates in person at the time of joining in their selected Colleges along with the scanned copy of original certificates for verification.

3 If you do not report to the Head of the Institution to which you are allotted on or before the time and date specified, your selection and/or admission will be cancelled without any further notice.

4 The Candidate selected for admission should give a self-declaration form at the time of reporting to the concerned College that he/she is liable for forfeiture of selection/admission if suppression of facts or misinterpretation is found at any time during or after the admission to the course.

5 Candidates are advised to be in touch with our official website for Schedule / latest updates / Results / Notices / News & Events pertaining to counselling, as the Selection Committee will not be individually contacting the candidates for the same.

6 No communication will be directly sent to the candidate (s). They are advised to be in touch with the website on a regular basis for any updates.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1 Seat Matrix for the Courses will be available on the official website.

2 The Selection Committee does not take responsibility for connectivity errors and procedural errors.

3 Admission to MBBS & BDS Degree courses shall be made through online counselling on the basis of rank by applying the rule of reservation.

4 Request for change of course (MBBS & BDS) or College, from one to another, is not permitted after final locking.
