TN MBBS, BDS admissions 2026: DMER sets July 23 final application deadline

According to the notification issued by the Tamil Nadu (TN Health), the last date for applications to MBBS & BDS Courses in Tamil Nadu has been fixed as 23rd July 2026, 5.00 PM. Therefore, candidates are advised to fill out and submit their applications well ahead of the last date.

The committee had published the list of documents required for UG Medical Application on 28th April, and also the application window in Tamil Nadu was opened from 29th June so as to give the students enough time for submitting their applications.

However, till now, the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee has received over 41,000 completed applications. With the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) results having been declared on 16th July, the application window will remain open for another week.

Meanwhile, considering the need for scrutiny of all the applications, publication of lists of ineligible candidates and the need for a Grievance Redressal Window for these candidates (Who were found ineligible during scrutiny) and the expected short timelines for UG medical counselling by the DGHS, there will not be any extension for the last date for applications.

Last month, Medical Dialogues had reported that reiterating the directions, the Tamil Nadu DME has directed all self-financing medical colleges and state private university medical colleges in the state to strictly adhere to the National Medical Commission's (NMC) guidelines and charge MBBS fees only for the prescribed course duration of four-and-a-half years.

The committee has also warned institutions not to collect any fee beyond the amount approved by the state's Fee Fixation Committee.
