UP NEET Counselling 2026 round 1 registrations to close on August 12, check details

According to the notification, only candidates who have been declared qualified in NEET UG 2026 will be eligible to participate in the state counselling process. Eligible candidates must log in to the official counselling portal and complete their registration using their own mobile number and email address.

The Directorate has advised candidates to provide active contact details, as all counselling-related information will be communicated through the mobile number and email ID submitted during registration.

Candidates must pay a non-refundable online registration fee of Rs 2,000 to participate in the counselling. The amount will not be refunded under any circumstances. "To participate in the online counselling, candidates are mandatorily required to deposit a registration fee of ₹2,000/- via the online mode. The registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances; that is, it is non-refundable", the notification stated.

During registration, candidates will also be required to select a nodal centre for the online verification of their documents.

Candidates must upload the prescribed documents on the counselling portal, including-

1 High school marksheet or certificate.

2 Intermediate marksheet.

3 Reservation-related certificate, wherever applicable, including OBC, SC, ST, EWS, Ex-Army, NCC, Freedom Fighter and PwD certificates.

4 Domicile certificate, wherever applicable.

The notice clarifies that candidates will become eligible for online choice filling only after depositing the prescribed security money.

The security deposit will vary depending on the type of institution selected by the candidate-

Candidates wishing to participate in counselling for seats in both government and private (medical and dental) sectors are required to deposit a security amount of ₹2,00,000/-. Candidates wishing to participate in the counselling for seats in both government and private dental colleges are required to deposit a security amount of ₹1,00,000.

Candidates participating in the counselling are specifically advised to use their own bank accounts when depositing the security amount, because, upon the conclusion of the entire counselling process, the security amount for both unallotted candidates and those who have secured admission will be refunded—in accordance with the rules—to the same bank account from which the payment was originally made.

Candidates who wish to participate for both government and private medical or dental seats must pay the applicable higher security deposit.

The security money will not be adjusted against the tuition fee. DGME has advised candidates to make the payment using their own bank account, as the refundable amount will be returned to the same account after the completion of all counselling rounds, subject to the applicable rules.

Candidates allotted seats in government or private medical and dental colleges during the first round will be provided a free-exit facility. If a candidate does not take admission after the Round 1 allotment, the security deposit will be refunded.

Candidates who use the free-exit option after the first round will remain eligible to participate in the second or third round of counselling. For government and private sector medical colleges/dental colleges, the candidates allotted/admitted through the first round of counseling will have the facility of free exit, that is, if the candidate does not take admission after allotment through the first round of counselling, his earnest money will be returned.

All reservation certificates must be issued in the prescribed format by the competent authority in Uttar Pradesh.

The notice states that OBC and EWS certificates issued on or after April 1, 2026, will be accepted. Candidates from reserved categories belonging to states other than Uttar Pradesh will be treated as unreserved candidates and will not receive reservation benefits in UP counselling.

PwD certificates will be accepted only when issued by centres designated by the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Certificates for freedom fighters and dependants of former defence personnel must also be issued in the prescribed Uttar Pradesh Government format by the competent authority.

For the purpose of availing sub-category reservation benefits under UP NEET UG-2026, only certificates issued in accordance with the following points shall be valid:

1. Disability certificates for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) shall be valid only if issued by centres designated by the DGHS, MoHFW, New Delhi.

2. Certificates regarding reservation for dependents of Freedom Fighters shall be valid only if issued by the competent authority of Uttar Pradesh in the format prescribed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

3. Certificates for Ex-servicemen (disabled in war / retired / martyrs' sons or daughters) shall be valid only if issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.

Candidates must fill their choices for only those medical or dental colleges in which they genuinely wish to take admission. Choices should be arranged in the order of preference. Candidates should fill in their choices for admission to seats in government or private medical/dental colleges based on their order of preference. Candidates should select only those colleges where they are willing to secure admission.

After completing choice filling, candidates must lock their selections. Those who fail to lock their choices will automatically be removed from the allotment process.

Once the choices have been locked, candidates will not be permitted to modify or rearrange them. DGME has also clarified that requests seeking changes in locked choices will not be considered.

Candidates allotted seats in government medical or dental colleges will complete their admission process at the respective allotted institutions.

For candidates allotted seats in private medical or dental colleges, the admission formalities will be completed at the nodal centres designated by the State Government.

Candidates have been advised to carefully read all counselling instructions, arrange the required documents and complete registration, payment and choice filling within the timelines announced separately on the official portal.
