WBUHS invites applications for post doctoral fellowship, certificate courses, check all details

WBUHS Opens Applications for PDF & PDCC Courses 2025

Kolkata: The West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) has released the information booklet and admission guidelines for its Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) and Post Doctoral Certificate Courses (PDCC) for the 2025 academic session.

As per the official memorandum dated 18 November 2025, admissions will be conducted based on inter-se merit lists across various categories following the university’s regulations.

1. Eligibility criteria

1.1. Citizens of India who have obtained the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for the courses as detailed herein under:

4 Post Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) in Neuro Radiology MD / DNB (Radiodiagnosis) IPGME&R, Kolkata
5 Post Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) in Pain Management MD / DNB in (Anaesthesia) or PMR IPGME&R, Kolkata
6 Post Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC) in Breast Surgery MS / DNB (General Surgery) IPGME&R, Kolkata

1.2 Candidates pursuing the courses as mentioned in the eligibility criteria and are due to appear in the final examination of that course in next few months; can also appear in the admission test. However such candidates will have to produce the proof of passing the final examination of the course during the time of counseling.

1.3 Candidates would be appearing at examination through his/her declaration. If it is found that declaration is not true, s/he is debarred for admission at any stage before or even after admission.

2. Duration of the Courses and Seats Available:

The total number of available seats are detailed as under:

Post Doctoral Fellowship in Onco-Anaesthesia (Two Years): 2 seats

Post Doctoral Certificate Course in Nephropathology (One Year): 4 seats

Post Doctoral Certificate Course in Interventional Radiology(One Year): 2 seats

Post Doctoral Certificate Course in Neuroradiology(One Year): 2 seats

Post Doctoral Certificate Course in Pain Management(One Year): 2 seats

Post Doctoral Certificate Course in Breast Surgery(One Year): 2 seats

3. Method of Submission of application

The candidates are instructed to fill in the proforma of application appended at the end of this Information Booklet and attach the photocopies of the documents as instructed therein. The applications should be accompanied with a demand draft of Rs. 10,000/- (Rs. Ten thousand only) drawn in favour of “The West Bengal University of Health Sciences”, payable at Kolkata. The filled in proforma for the courses will have to be deposited at the office of the Controller of Examinations (CoE), WBUHS, within 4.00 pm on 28th November. 2025. The proforma can also be sent by post to the University but it must reach the office of Controller of Examinations within 1st December. 2025, if the draft stated hereinabove is purchased before 28th November, 2025. The candidates are instructed to keep a photocopy of the filled on proforma duly signed by the person receiving it at the office of CoE, or the receipt from the postal department / courier service with them as the proof of submission of the proforma. It will be required at the time of counselling.

The candidates, who have completed their period of study as the Post Graduate Trainee of MD / MS / DNB courses, may also apply. However, these candidates will have to produce their proof of passing the MD / MS / DNB examinations at the time of verification of documents and counseling by personal appearance.

The candidates having or appearing for MD / DNB degree in the subject of Radiodiagnosis; may apply for both Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology courses simultaneously without paying additional fees. In such cases, they are to declare their preference of the course at the time of counseling.

4. Admit Card

Admit Card will be sent to the individual candidate through the mail address provided by them. No application for non-receipt of the admit will be entertained by the University. The admit card would contain information about the time and venue of the admission test along with the detailed instruction about the conduct of examination.

5. Admission test

Admission tests will be conducted by the WBUHS for each courses based on the qualifying examinations the candidate are appearing in / due to appear. Merit lists of the candidates seeking admission to the above courses will be prepared and published as per the schedule of events notified in the information booklet

5.1 Applicants will be provisionally allowed to appear in the Admission test provided he/she had submitted his/her application in the prescribed proforma for the respective course and pay the application fee of Rs.10, 000/- (Rs. Ten Thousand only) for the PDF and PDCC courses based on the information provided by them. As the testimonials will not be verified before the examination; mere appearing in the examination does not guarantee their admission to in the courses. Any discrepancy detected even after the examination may cancel the submission of the application.

5.2 The question papers of the Admission tests will be set in English and shall contain 100 single best response type Multiple Choice Questions relevant to the concerned course. The standard of the MCQs will be of that of the qualifying examination(s).

5.3 For each correct response, one (1) mark will be awarded. There will be no negative marks awarded for wrong answers and for questions not attempted. However multiple answers to a single question will be regarded as wrong answers.

5.4 The duration of each Admission test will be of 80 minutes.

6. Counselling and Admission

a. The provisional merit list for the individual courses will be available its website (https://www.wbuhs.ac.in). No separate information will be sent to individual candidate in this regard.

b. The candidates who are appearing for Post Doctoral Certificate Course in Interventional Radiology or Post Doctoral Certificate Course in Neuroradiology will be counselled according to the rank list common to both the courses and will have to exercise their choice on the spot to select the course.

c. Admission will be made through a process of counseling strictly according to the time schedule to be published by the WBUHS. The notice of the time, date and venue of counseling will be available only in the website (https://www.wbuhs.ac.in) and no separate information about it will be sent to the individual candidates.

d. The candidate will have to bring the following original documents along with their attested copies at the counselling:

(i) Admit card of the Admission Test

(ii) Receipt of the application form

(iii) All relevant Mark-sheet(s) as per eligibility criteria

(iv) Photo Identity card e.g. EPIC/ADHAR/Passport.

(v) Any other relevant document.

7. Allowance of Candidates for study:

The question of allowance of the in-service candidates for Trainee Reserve facility or those who are serving the bond period by the Govt. of West Bengal; rests entirely with the State Govt. All in-service candidates will have to produce a “no-objection certificate” from the employing authority at the time of counseling for the course, if their name appears in the provisional merit list published by the University after the examination. The Candidates with PWD status may apply if their type and extent of disability is 40% – 70% in lower limbs only (as certified by the Dept. of PMR, IPGME&R).

8. Stipend, Study Leave and Allowable Leaves during the course:

The candidates are instructed to contact the individual institutions for the amount of stipend they are entitled to. The University is not, in any manner, related to the issues of stipend for the candidates, neither any query arising on the issue of stipend can be addressed to the University. The candidates should take the responsibility upon themselves as to whether they can avail study leave of any kind from their appointing authority. A proof that they have been released from their current postings must have to be submitted at the time of counselling that they will be engaged in twenty four hour training for the above mentioned courses. The maximum number of days allowable as leave during the course of study will be in accordance with the extant Govt. rules about the issue in the other Post-Doctoral courses under WBUHS.
