What's the tie-breaking criteria for NEET SS 2024? Check details

New Delhi- The National Board of Medical Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is going to conduct the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Super Specialty (NEET SS) on 29th and 30th March 2025 for the academic year 2024. Following this, the result of NEET SS 2024 will be declared on the official website of NBEMS by 30th April 2025. The scorecard will be available for download for candidates through applicant login using NBEMS ID and password.

Meanwhile, as per the information bulletin, before the declaration of the result, any question asked in the NEET-SS Examination can be challenged for technical errors, if any, with supportive medical literature, in not more than 2 calendar days after the conduct of the examination i.e till 1st April 2025.

No claims made beyond 2 days of the conduct of the examination shall be entertained under any circumstances. No claims pertaining to the difficulty level of a question shall be entertained. Such a challenge can only be raised by bonafide candidates who had appeared in the examination through their registered email ID at the Communication Web Portal of NBEMS.

In addition, there shall be no re-evaluation or rechecking or re-totaling of responses marked by the candidates. Requests/Queries for reevaluation/re-totaling shall not be entertained. Moreover, candidates placed at the 50th percentile or above shall be declared as qualified in NEET-SS in their respective speciality.

VALIDITY OF NEET-SS 2024 RESULT

The validity of the result of NEET-SS 2024 shall be only for the current admission session i.e. 2024-25 admission session for DM, MCh and DrNB Super Specialty courses and cannot be carried forward for the next session of admissions for DM/MCh and DrNB Super Specialty courses.

TIE-BREAKER CRITERIA

In the event of candidates obtaining the same score for a particular super speciality group, the following tie-breaking criteria will be applied to determine inter-se merit in descending order till unique inter-se merit is determined for all such candidates-

a Candidate having a greater number of correct responses in the question paper will be placed in a better merit position.

b Candidate having a lesser number of negative responses in the question paper will be placed at a better merit position.

c Older candidates will be placed in a better merit position.

d Candidate securing higher aggregate marks (in percentage) in all MBBS Professional Examinations will be placed at a better merit position.

PUBLICATION OF MERIT LIST

NBE shall declare Group group-wise merit list i.e. there will be a separate merit list for each Question Paper Group. There shall not be any equating/scaling and normalization. The merit shall be generated strictly on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate and application of the prescribed tie-breaking criteria.

Candidates securing 50th percentile or more in each question paper group-specific merit list shall be declared as qualified.

COUNSELING

1 There shall be common counselling for all Superspecialty seats (DM, MCh and DrNB Super speciality) of NEET-SS 2024 atthe National Level to be conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India. NBEMS shall not entertain queries pertaining to counselling and allotment of seats.

2 Candidates who are declared qualified in the Question Paper of a particular group(s) and registering for participation in the common counselling shall be allowed to exercise as many choices of super-speciality courses covered in the said group(s) for which their broad speciality qualification is an eligible feeder. Superspecialty seats shall be allocated strictly in accordance with the Question Paper Group's specific merit position. For Eg. A General Medicine candidate who is declared qualified in the question paper of the Medical Group will be able to choose from all available seats in the superspecialty subjects covered in the Medical Group.

3 Candidates are advised to retain the mobile number and email ID used for the registration of the NEET-SS 2024 application form till the completion of the counselling process as the same email ID and mobile number shall be used by MCC for counselling also.

SEAT MATRIX

Candidates may visit the website of the National Medical Commission for tentative details of DM/ MCh seats offered and the website of NBEMS official website for tentative details of DrNB seats accredited in various super speciality courses. However, the final seat matrix of seats going to be offered in the counselling for the 2024-25 admission session shall be available on the website of MCC only. The schedule & details of the counselling process shall also be notified on the MCC website only.

Meanwhile, NBEMS will be conducting the NEET-SS 2024 in two slots in 2 days on a computer-based platform at various exam centres across the country. Interested candidates can start submitting the application form for the NEET-SS 2024. Below is the complete schedule-
