New Delhi: The Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Ashwini Kumar Choubey recently briefed the upper house about the Status of 22 new AIIMS approved under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
The minister was responding to a series of queries relating to the number of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) under construction in the country, the current status of the undergoing projects; and the time period within which these projects are proposed to be completed.
According to the written response of the Minister tabled in Rajya Sabha, out of the 22 AIIMS approved 6 institutes located at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh are already functional while the rest 16 AIIMS are at different stages of physical progress.
Eight institutes each at Raebareli, Mangalagiri, Nagpur, Kalyani, Gorakhpur, Bathinda, and Bilaspur are at the later stages of development and expected to come up by the end of 2021.
Furthermore, the institutes approved for Guwahati, Madurai, Deoghar, Rajkot, and Bibinagar are targeting towards completion by the latter half of 2022 while the institutes at Samba and Manethi are expected to complete in the year 2023.
