2 Paramedical students booked in AIIMS Nagpur ragging case
Nagpur: The two senior students from the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) course at All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur who were accused of ragging and harassing a first-year paramedical student, have been recently booked by the Sonegaon police in connection.
According to the police, the two accused students of the 2024 batch allegedly forced the junior to strip, asked him objectionable questions and showed him inappropriate videos after calling him into their hostel room at around 9.30 pm on the campus on September 21.
This came to light after the members of the anti-ragging committee of AIIMS questioned 13 eyewitnesses and recorded their statements leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act and Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A police source told TOI, "He was also shown objectionable videos and forced to strip. The frightened student screamed for help, after which other hostel inmates rushed to his rescue. He was later dropped home by other residents of the hostel."
After confirming the involvement of the two student, the committee filed a complaint at the police station and a case was registered accordingly.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported this ragging incident of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, where a first-year paramedical student was allegedly ragged and harassed by two final-year students from the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) course.
The disturbing incident occurred within the confines of the institute’s hostel when the junior student who resides outside the hostel campus after being not qualified for campus accommodation was called to the hostel by BMLT seniors. According to the student, he was ragged in the campus hostel.
Following the incident, the junior student filed a complaint with the Sonegaon police station encouraging the institute's authorities to form a 19-member anti-ragging committee to investigate the matter thoroughly.
