2nd-year MBBS student of GMC Palakkad hangs self in hostel room
Palakkad: In an unfortunate incident, a second-year medical student of Government Medical College, Palakkad allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the hostel room on Tuesday night.
According to his roommates and friends, the deceased, a resident of Kollam Peringad was suffering from depression and was irregular in attending classes. His friends claimed that he also distanced himself from them.

As per latest The Hindu news report, His parents claimed that there is a mystery surrounding his death. At the same time, a community group backing the recent student strike at Government Medical College, Palakkad for better facilities also raised questions about the circumstances of his passing.
Following this, Arumughan Pathichira and Raymant Antony, the conveners of the People's Forum, have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, urging for a thorough investigation into the unfortunate demise of the student.
As per twenty-four news report, the student took the extreme step when his friends went out to eat. Although his friend asked him to join them for a meal, he declined. After his friends returned to the room, they discovered the door locked from the inside.
Despite repeated attempts to open the door, it remained shut until they eventually broke it down. Then, the student was found hanging in the room at 10 pm.
According to people's forum, the student had supported his seniors who went on a strike demanding better facilities and the appointment of permanent teachers at the medical college. The medical college functioning under the State Scheduled Castes Development Department has been facing serious neglect from the authorities, they alleged. Further, Covenors of the forum alleged that the students who resorted to the recent strike had undergone various kinds of mental torture.
