7 MBBS students of Dr YS Parmar Medical College suspended, fined Rs 75k each for ragging juniors
Sirmaur: Taking disciplinary action against 7 second-year MBBS students for ragging their junior, the Dr YS Parmar Medical College in Nahan recently suspended them for three months and fined Rs 75,000 each. The accused students have been barred from participating in cultural, sports, or other regional, national, or international activities for one year.
An investigation by the anti-ragging committee confirmed that the accused seniors from the 2023 batch allegedly misbehaved and harassed the junior students on the campus. They forced the juniors to stand for extended periods and even used foul language.

The incident came to light when a student sent an anonymous complaint to the medical college's Anti-Ragging Investigation Committee on November 26. After a thorough investigation, it was found that seven second-year MBBS students from the 2023 batch were involved in ragging their juniors. As a result, the authorities suspended them for three months and fined each Rs 75,000.
Confirming the matter, Dr Rajiv Tuli, Principal of Parmar Medical College told ETV Bharat, ""The investigation committee has taken strict action to ensure such behaviour is not repeated, In addition to their suspension, the students are required to pay a fine of Rs 75,000 each."
"The college has a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Such actions undermine the dignity and safety of our students. The institution is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for everyone," he told The Tribune.
However, this is the second time a ragging case has been reported from the medical college this year. Medical Dialogues in March this year reported that 9 MBBS students were suspended for 45 days for allegedly ragging the junior batch. The accused medicos were fined Rs 50,000 each and were not be allowed to attend any sports or literary function for a year.
These nine students were allegedly found to be involved in the ragging of junior students (2023 batch) in the dissection hall of the anatomy department of the college on March 4, in which abusive words were also used.
