AIIMS Bhubaneswar ranked 12th among Top medical colleges in India, 2nd best emerging: MDRA survey

Bhubaneswar: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar has been ranked 12th among the top medical colleges in India in the India Today MDRA Best Medical Colleges Survey 2025. Besides, the institute has also secured the 2nd position among the Top 10 Emerging Medical Colleges in the country.
This milestone reflects AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and compassionate patient care, the institute said in a statement on Thursday.
The survey, conducted by leading media house India Today in collaboration with Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA), evaluated institutions across five key parameters: Intake Quality and Governance, Academic Excellence, Infrastructure and Living Experience, Personality and Leadership Development, and Placement and Career Progression.

Celebrating the achievement, Dr Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, said, “This recognition reflects our relentless pursuit of excellence," quotes UNI
He added, “Our continued rise in national rankings demonstrates our holistic approach to grooming future medical leaders while ensuring the best patient outcomes.”
A special felicitation programme was held on campus to mark the occasion, attended by senior faculty and administrative leaders.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar is set to be designed as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for the management and research of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
This announcement was made by the Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram while attending the World Sickle Cell Awareness Day celebration at the institute.
Speaking at the event, Oram highlighted the significant role played by AIIMS Bhubaneswar in providing comprehensive care to SCD patients not only in Odisha but also in neighbouring states.
He said, “The Centre of Excellence status will further enhance AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s capacity for advanced research and quality treatment in Sickle Cell Disease.”
